I caused some minor damage to the car during the hire period and I didn’t purchase the excess insurance so I had to pay for the repair. This was fine as it was my fault so I cannot blame them.
I was a bit worried at the start about how much they would charge me as you hear so many stories where the cost is substantially higher than the real cost, but they were very fair.
I took some photos and asked two repair shops when I returned home and they estimated the cost would be £200 and £240. The actually car hire company charged me the equivalent to £184 so I was very happy with this. They held on to the deposit on my credit card until the work was completed, but 5 days after I returned home it was released the balance. A very fair and honest company.
In the future I will purchase the excess insurance as you never know what happens. It was my first accident it 18 years and thinking I’m the best driver ever it would never happened to me. I was wrong!
