“Abusive Shuttle Driver”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Regina231 on 23/01/2017

I am very disturbed by inappropriate behavior of the shuttle driver. He forced a senior citizen lady to get off the shuttle in the dark and cold night of January 12th because she told him she had been waiting out for the shuttle for over 40 minutes! My family and I waited out 30 minutes before the shuttle showed up but the driver disrespectfully shouted he runs the shuttle every 15 minutes! I was going to call cops because it was the case of elderly abuse.

Give my car away when my flight is late. The manager ask me to go back to terminal to find something else with my two kids at 9:00pm. Refuse to help at all. Worst human. Worst customer service!!! Don't rent from them.

“Stay AWAY from this company!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 29/07/2015

I should have read the previous review! When I arrived, the staff at the Orlando office told me that I needed a hard copy of my insurance policy (NOT just the insurance card...the WHOLE policy) in order to rent the car. I assured them that I had coverage and that I could have the policy faxed, e-mailed or the representative could speak to my insurance company. The employee told me that they don't "do" faxes, e-mails or calls. WHY THE HECK NOT? The only reason is to TAKE ADVANTAGE of unknowing tourists! Apparently, this is new policy in Florida and according to the Orlando Economy staff, the policy is made clear when the reservation is made. FALSE! In looking back at my confirmation and the rentalcars.com site, this is not stated anywhere! In addition, several others at the Orlando office were in the same predicament as I was. To make matters worse, the manager at the Orlando office was condescending. When returned the car, I said that I was totally appalled by the way the customers are being taken advantage of and that I would be writing a negative review. His response was, "I look forward to reading it." He also said, "I have your signature here, so you can't dispute the charge now." How unprofessional! I would have gone back to the Orlando airport to rent from another company if my elderly mother had not been with me. STAY AWAY and spread the word about this company!

“Insurance scam ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by RhettWhitaker on 17/06/2015

On Thursday June 11 2015 my husband and I picked up our rental car at the Orlando Economy Rent a car office. I booked our rental from Expedia and have done this many times. I travel very frequently and rent cars about 30 times a year. When I was in the process of picking up our car the clerk asked if we wanted car insurance. This question is one I am familiar with because all other rental agencies ask the same question. I tell them the same answer every time. My personal car insurance covers me for my rental car. I know this because my brother in law sells insurance and has me insured. I am never questioned by that answer and we move on in the process of renting my car. However, this past June 11th this issue was not the same. The agent at the Economy Car Rental in Orlando Fl. told me that i needed proof of insurance before I was able to rent a car. I was very surprised but I figured I could call my brother in law and he would fax a copy of my policy to the agent. O my no, that was not possible. I need to carry the original copy of my insurance with me in order to get the rental car. I looked at my receipt from my on line reservation and it says, "Your rental may have mandatory, local insurance requirements that result in additional charges at the time of rental.". This does not say you absolutely MUST have proof in the form of your original car insurance policy in order to take the rental car. My husband had our insurance card that we keep in our glove compartment and that was not enough proof. This is an unfair practice and is not acceptable as a procedure to rent a car to a typical traveler who would not have an original copy of their insurance policy with them. I feel like we were ripped off and cheated out of $100. I am sending this message to Expedia and asking them to check into this practice. When I rent a car I give you access to my Credit Card Account. This is all that is required as insurance that all charges will be taken care of. The invoice does not even state that the $25. a day for 4 days is for insurance. It just says Rental rates and Charges. I am asking that a full refund for this insurance be returned immediately. All of my rental information is below. The Price of the rental was to be$136.48. Our total with this insurance was $266.94. DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THEM. I SHOULD HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH. OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM

“phoenix sky harbor airport”

★☆☆☆☆

written by kean51 on 10/03/2015

This is the first bad review I have ever written. I was told we would have a shuttle from airport to rental but no such thing. After 3 unanswered phone calls (from airport)to Economy Car Rentals & nearly 2 hours, we hired a taxi to take us there but he couldn't even find it via gps. Finally had the taxi drop us at Enterprise where they took care of us very well. A few days later, when I finally was able to reach someone at Economy, they say it is my responsibility to contact them for pickup at the airport & since I did not (even though I phoned 3 times with no one answering) I get charged for the rental.

“EconomyRentaCar / Rent Max left us stranded in Ft...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/11/2013

I reserved a car in Ft Lauderdale for before and after my cruise. I received the car before the cruise at a rate of $98 for 2 days. When I picked up the car in Ft Lauderdale, I confirmed the car reservation for the vehicle after my cruise. That rate would be $77 for 3 days. Yes, way less money per day. I explained to the agent that an individual has no idea exactly when the cruise ship will dock and one never knows when the disembarkation process will begin and allow a person to get off the ship. The agent said, "What's the earliest you will need the car?" I said the ship is scheduled to arrive at 8am. He changed my reservation to 8am and said since I'm reserved with a credit card, they will hold the car all day until I arrive. After going through U.S. customs, we got off the ship around 10am. I called the Rent Max (a.k.a. Economy Rent a Car) company and they told me my car was given away to someone else. I was very upset. They made no attempt to help us at all. I called them 4 times including their corporate office. We were left stranded at the dock. It took me 1.5 hours to track down another rental car company to help us. (thank you Dollar / Thrifty!) Bottom line; Never rent from Economy Rent a Car or Rent max. {economyrentacar.com} You too, will be left out in the cold.

“Beware of economy rent a car in costa rica ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mrfever on 12/05/2013

Originally booked reserved a mitsubushi montero sport for our trip to Nosara costa rica however when we arrived they did not have this truck so they gave us a "upgrade" a hyundai santa fe. The agent at the desk Wobando did not disclose the difference in insurances just telling us one price for full coverage and not the others. Our truck got a flat tire on the dirt road which is why we originally reserved a truck not a soccer mom suv that cant handle these conditions. Long story short we had to pay $268 for a new tire because economy said they cant fix the tire. The manager Esteffan was no help and rude about the situation. I have used economy about 6 times going down to costa rica and will never use again and will tell my friends not to use them.

Economy Rent A Car is a different company and yes, they have very bad reputation. Avoid using them.
