“Would not recommend ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kanem155 on 01/06/2023

There are numerous reasons I would not recommend or use Easirent again: 1. Poor travel to and from the airport. Waited over 35 mins to be picked up. 2. Do not inform you that you will need proof of address, national insurance number and bank statement to hire car. 3. Lack of staff means the queue was over 1 hour long to be seen and sign documents. Further impacted by point number 2. 4. The Dublin branch requires you pay a €10 admin fee for going through M5 toll, when the toll itself only costs €2. This was non negotiable and staff were rude when challenged. 5. They tried to sell more insurance despite having paid for full coverage through broke website (discover cars) However the drop off was much easier than pick up and only took 10 minutes

Smooth rental when you book on their website! Staffs are friendly but you need to travel with free shuttle to the rental place.

“Don't honour their own commitments, Do not use”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Princhester on 20/10/2022

The poor experience of others here with Easirent is similar to mine. They said that as we had booked through an American website we had to pay extra insurance. I'm not American and there's nothing on their website to say non-Americans through an American website have to pay this They outright lied about what vehicles they had (and later admitted it, in writing). They refused to honour their own commitment about a cap on extra driver charges on the basis they weren't bound by what their own website people had committed to. Their basic strategy is to get you out to a lonely industrial estate away from any help or alternative, then blackmail you by threatening to cancel the booking. They have a well worn routine where if you get even slightly annoyed they immediately threaten to call the police. Another reviewer mentioned one of the counter people wanting to talk about anything except the booking. That was probably the same guy we had who regaled us with tedious stories. He clearly loves his job because it's the only way the sad little man can force anyone to have to listen to him. He was also clearly on a major power trip knowing we had to sign up or ruin our holiday, and loving every minute of it.

“DO NOT USE - AVOID AT ALL COSTS ”

P union do not use!! we booked a van online - says it was so good deals. When we went to collect van we were met with the most unhelpful unpleasent staff ever. Told us unless we paid a £1500 yes £1500 deposit we were unable to hire van. we were then informed that we wouldnt be getting the £98 we paid for he hire of van back as it wasnt their fault we didnt have the £1500 free on our credit card. so when were left with no van no money and no one to xall as their headoffice was in amsterdam and it was closed we have contacted trade & standards. do not use this company.

“Easirent Vehicle Hire - Florida”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ITN1116 on 01/07/2022

In May this year I visited Florida with my family after pre-purchasing a hire car from Easirent via Discover Cars. After picking the car up which had a heavy interior cigarette odour, we drove on day 9 to Busch Gardens in Tampa which was about 1.5 hours drive from our resort. During this visit the car key was lost but didn't notice this until we were leaving late in the evening. In somewhat of a panic, I reported it to the lost and found team at Busch Gardens and then contacted Easirent in Orlando for help. To my dismay they didn't want to know and told us we needed to sort it out ourselves and didn't feel any duty of care to our predicament. They suggested that we contact a locksmith ourselves or have the care recovered back to Orlando but we would need to arrange that. Faced with this and having few options, I ordered a taxi back to our resort and the key was found the following day in Busch Gardens and we returned by taxi to get it and recover the car. In my opinion the behaviour of Easirent Orlando was nothing less that deplorable in respect of my family's predicament and I will never risk my family's safety and wellbeing again by using them. I have also contacted Easirent UK about this and they also don't appear to give much consideration to the duty of care element as being an integral part of there service offering.

“Avoid at all costs - there are plenty of alternative...”

written by rikww on 12/03/2022

Don't make the same mistake as I did and hire from this dreadful company. I hired a car 3 weeks ago, firstly it took 45 minutes to get the car picked up ( not a one-off as the gentleman in front of me had been there for an hour. ). The 'checklist' filled out by their operative had everything checked to say it had been 'thoroughly' checked over. ( Their version of 'thoroughly' may differ somewhat to yours...) On the Edinburgh City Bypass on the way home, I tried to clean the windows...but the bottle was bone-dry...despite the checklist saying it was full. Obviously I was starting to lose faith in the 'thoroughness' of the checking. I didn't think to check the roadworthiness of a vehicle I'd paid for - silly me? ( In hindsight, maybe I should've checked the insurance and tax too... ) On phoning the optimistically named 'customer service' on arriving home - this time I managed managed to get through in only 30 minutes - I reported this, and also that the car stank of smoke. It would appear that this wasn't noted.... I returned the car a day early... having filled up the windscreen bottle... so returned it in better condition than it had been hired to me. Two weeks later out of the blue, having had zero contact from Easirent, I received a call from a debt-collection agency looking for £360 !! Apparently, there was damage to one of the tyres. Not when I left it there wasn't... But if you have been unlucky enough to hire from this lot... PLEASE take photos of everything when you leave so they can't make up anything to yous they have to me There wasn't....and let's face it, if it was the same 'thorough' employee that checked it on the way out, I'd be amazed if he/she was even looking at the right car. The debt collector said they'd look into it so I thought I'd call Easirent myself and see where the mistake was. After nearly an hour a lady, who claimed to be a manager, finally picked up the phone. She said that their policy was that if there was damage they would contact the customer, and then if they were unable to resolve with the customer they would then pass to the debt collection agency. She also said that every vehicle was thoroughly checked before and after every hire... Really? Are you sure? She also inferred that it was my responsibility according to DVLA to assure the roadworthiness of a vehicle... I had naively accepted the checklist from the 'thorough' employee... They haven't even followed their own policies, and even putting to one side the fact that there was no damage ( and the car was actually MORE roadworthy when I brought it back )... if someone could please tell me where they buy their tyres... Fiat 500 tyres are available for around £50 fitted... Blackcircles are great by the way Easirent... 7 times cheaper than where you get yours from ( just trying to help ) Easirent make up a figure of £360 for ONE TYRE!! Notwithstanding this...as above, there was zero damage to the car, and clearly Easirent who don't even follow their own policy of contacting the customer, are just out to sham anyone they can I'm not one for leaving reviews just for the sake of it, but companies acting like this need to be stopped

“Unethical”

★☆☆☆☆

written by carterk06 on 22/12/2021

While in the US before traveling to the UK, I rented a vehicle through Easirent. Studying the terms carefully, it clearly indicated that insurance was included. We paid 791.34GBP ($1,057.21). However, when I arrived in Manchester, UK I was informed that I would have to pay an additional 957 GBP ($1,278.53) for insurance. When I pointed out that the rental included the insurance, I got some vague explanation. It was indicated though that this would be refunded if I return the vehicle undamaged - which I did even though the car I was loaned had dents, dings, and scratches on almost every panel and bumper. When I returned the car I tried to reason with the manager. He said that if I could provide proof that insurance was included then he would issue a refund. I did not have to screenshot with me but had someone back in the US do a rental inquiry and they sent me that screenshot and it clearly showed that insurance was indeed included. When I sent this attachment to the manager I heard absolutely nothing back. I then tried to go through their customer service and learned earlier today that they will not give me a refund due to the car rental being closed. So, it seems they take advantage of the unsuspecting foreign traveler. What are you going to do? You have already paid a large sum, feel almost certain you will get the addition fee back only to find out otherwise and then what? They already have you over a barrel. It seems unethical at best. This is too large a sum to write off and will pursue due course in this matter. In good faith, I cannot let it go. It seems they have been sticking it to other customers in similar matters and wish I had done better research before renting from them. Please do not make the mistake we did. There are certainly more reputable companies out there. What a shameful way to do business.

“Stay away and run”

★☆☆☆☆

written by RoselynKent42 on 13/12/2021

Absolutely the worst experience of my life at MCO/Easirent. We booked our rental through Orbitz and upon arrival their vans were not easily marked with only a small magnet on the front hood. Upon arrival at their facility, we noticed there were about 20-30 people waiting. I walked in and asked what is going on as a gentleman was arguing with the staff. I asked a lady how long she had been waiting, and she said over 1 1/2 hrs. I asked the staff what I needed to do, and they sign in and wait to be called. I can overhear the tenants trying to sell additional coverage to people telling them if you don't purchase the additional coverage we can't rent you the car. REALLY? Well, when you rent the vehicle online, it's optional just like every other car rental. A complete disgrace by this organization and anyone associated with this organization is part of this business practice. We tried to get our refund of $200 and the refused to refund us our money. NEVER, EVER again...I am going to make sure this gets posted everywhere so people will know to stay away.

“do not hire”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Briau312 on 01/10/2021

previously left 3 * as we were offered a partial refund for a 1/2 day late hire (at their fault) but company has back tracked on this, and didn't even feel they should contact me to tell me this. you have to chase them at every step of booking and complaint. Worst service every received with a car hire company, its not been worth the stress and amount of time spent on the phone. Wish we had paid more for an experienced company with good customer service. DO NOT HIRE THROUGH EASIRENT. We are out of pocket from a missed boat trip, thank god we weren't using the car to take a flight/something more important other than it ruining a day of our holiday. in particular this is about the Edinburgh branches. If you are unlucky to experience any problem, however simple that means you need to communicate or raise a complaint with this company, you are in for a frustrating time.

“Terrible experience!! Avoid at all costs”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jadynr202 on 05/07/2021

I rented a car from easirent for a few days. I was duped into it, thinking it was a good deal. The car was filthy on collection, the process to collect the car was painful and meant we left 1.5 hours later than planned AND I was charged £280 in penalties due to a single congestion charge of £80. Yes, the £200 was due to an 'admin fee'. Terribly company taking advantage of people and I'm fuming!!!

“WHERE'S MY REFUND?”

★☆☆☆☆

written by TheBster on 15/12/2020

When hiring a car they should have taken a pre-auth only on my credit card. Instead they took the full payment, giving assurances that the money would be refunded in full when the car was returned. This was in September 2020. It's not mid-December 2020 and they are still unable to process the refund. In my opinion, they are a bunch of incompetent idiots. The customer service team are full of excuses and refusals to act. The depot staff are either incompetent or simply following orders to take people's money knowing that they won't get it back. Then we get to the ignorant MD. I have emailed him 4 times and he still fails to even acknowledge the communication. They have £1500 of MY money. They took it from me and are failing to return what is not theirs. DO NOT HIRE A CAR FROM THEM, THEY ARE CHARLATANS.

“rental in JAX i”

★☆☆☆☆

written by inewsx on 05/03/2020

Do not use this rental company. Can not rent unless you have your insurance carrier, policy number nd expiration date. Like who travels with their car Insurance. Option is to buy their insurance and it ain't cheap. Was not informed I could only drive 150 miles per day in Florida. found that out when reading the fine print in the hotel. The interior of the car is filthy dirty. They try and frighten the customer into purchasing advance toll charges. There were five customers in the office renting and it got ugly. There were two agents on duty. One had the attitude of it is an hour until closing, you are no longer at the airport so take it or leave it. the other agent seemed to be embarrassed by the others attitude. I expect another problem when I turn the car in. I rent automobiles about days out of the year and rented from Easirent to save money. As the saying goes if it is to good to be true it probably is.

As per everyone elses review, there contract is a licence to print money. Confronted at checkin with a menu of how much they would charge if any damage on car. We were expected to check car by torchlight when car was dirty. For peace of mind we were forced to pay over £40 per day for top up insurance otherwise they were going to take £1600 on my Visa. The guy said you would be stupid not too!! Avoid like the plague!!

“Steer clear of Easirent”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KJDuff on 11/02/2020

Easirent advertise cheap rates, but their strategy appears to be to recoup this through excessive fees and charges which you cannot later contest. Once they have your credit card, you can be sure that it's highly likely that they will charge you extra without any recourse. I tried multiple times to contact their customer services department, but of course once they have your cash they just ignore you. Interestingly, as soon as I placed a negative review on Trust Pilot, they were straight back with an ass covering reply. I strongly recommend avoiding Easirent. If you want to hire a car, use one of the established vendors and avoid them.

No , they just block the £1250.00 on your credit card, so you must make sure that you have that amount left in credit on your card
Report this content WallyFlea Written on: 31/01/2018
Hi. I use them regularly and use my credit card to provide the guarantee. It does not charge your card, it blocks out the amount of the guarantee for the period of the hire. So, unless you have an accident, or the car is stolen, the block expires when you return the car. It's important to remember that your card will need to have capacity to provide the block guarantee within your limit - and you will not be able to use this for the period of the block. For example, if your credit limit is £5,000 and you have £3,000 outstanding on your card, and the block is £1250, then you will only have £750 remaining to use during the hire period. Hope that helps.

There was no money taken from my account that I noticed anyway, Very competitive hire rates and I have used them before, Generally they were OK and definitely the cheapest company around Heathrow.

They didn't take the money from my account - I believe it was just blocked as a guarantee against damages. They were a very good value for money company in my opinion.
Report this content more_am Written on: 31/01/2018
Nope. They don't take money out but your money will be blocked for your rental period.
Report this content Kelvicmam Written on: 31/01/2018
No this is just in case you have an accident. They block the ammount until car is returned.
Report this content TheBster Written on: 15/12/2020
Yes - they did this to me in September 202. They claim it was in error, but it appears to happen to plenty of people. It is now mid-December and they are still not refunding the money to my credit card. The value was £1500.  I wouldn't deal with them if I were you, unless you want the pain of having to spend a lot of time getting YOUR money back that they shouldn't have in the first place.

Cancel your booking as soon as you can and go and rent somewhere else. That is the best advice I can give. All their process is designed to ripe you off. They invest in keeping their profile clean in the web to attract new customers. They must have one of the lowest customer retention ratios known.
Report this content TerrySA Written on: 14/10/2015
We hired from Easirent just over a year ago via Atlas Choice, a company we've used on many occasions. On arrival at Heathrow from South Africa we had instructions to utilise the Hoppa bus outside the terminal, showed our booking docs & we were dropped off at the Sheraton where we collected our car. On returning it was a really early morning flight to Italy the same process to get back to Heathrow. The Hoppa bus is complimentary for car hire firms just outside the main airport, similar to the more well known (& generally more costly) Hertz/Avis etc.

It is a bad idea to use easirent. Help yourself and use another company, their hidden fees will make your final rent price way higher then any big player like europcar, hertz, sixt, etc. On the top of hidden fees, I returned the car half an hour later and they charged me a fee equivalent of 3 days in price. When the same happened.with europcar, they just said: no problem, no fine for the first 4h of delay, we know london traffic well.

When you book online with Easirent they send you a confirmation email with a booking reference - mine was a 5 or 6 digit number. If you have not received this then just email them and they will be able to help. They will send you the contact numbers and once you have collected your luggage you just call them and they will pick you up and take you to the office to collect your car - its a great system. I have rented from them a few times now and never had any problems

They normally send a voucher by email. Shall you need a duplicate, just call their call center and ask to send you one. Your name, rental dates and time, collection station shall be enough to identify your booking. As I can judge, their staff, which is really helpful, have access to all bookings.

Please do yourself a favour, and make other arrangements. While cheap (through the quoted price, the insurance and 'deposit' be unexpected charges you have to bear the brunt of), the level of service, professionalism and choice of vehicles, are so lacking, it's laughable. If you got a voucher through a third party, call them to explain your lack of confidence in this supplier and they will happily make other arrangements for you.
