Car Rental from Glasgow Airport

This was our first booking with Easirent and it did not start well - despite having phoned on reaching baggage reclaim after our flight from Luton we were kept waiting for a good half hour at the bus stop. Fortunately the early morning was merely cold not wet. It appears Easirent do not have their own mini buses but rely on a parking firm to bring customers to the off airport pickup address.

After that the check in went reasonably well though took a long time and we were finally introduced to our car which we had booked as a Ford Focus "or similar". What we were given without the option of any choice was a bright yellow Hyundai Velloset coupe - quite a surprise. However once she became used to having 6 forward gears my wife liked the car very much and the very odd door arrangement suited us very well.

The final check out 3 weeks later went much better as the depot manager had seen the yellow car approaching and had called up a bus for the airport while we were still coming in and parking. Good thoughtful service.

Would we use Easirent again - probably yes but not until we had tried many comparison sites to try and do better on the price supplements - insurance CD waver and a second driver. It would have cost us well over £200 for me to drive this car so my wife had to do the lot. She would have welcomed a break on 2 of our 23 days due to traffic problems on one day and tricky mountain roads on the other. We have hired cars many times in Tenerefe, mainland Spain, Cyprus and Australia without any charge for a second driver. Indeed how can it cost the vehicle owner any more than about £5 or £10 for extra paperwork as the car can only be driven by one person at a time? Also £180 to bring the CDW down from £1,250 to £100 was unwelcome though I admit the website did mention such a charge.
