“Doyouspain not about car rentals but dubious insurance”

★☆☆☆☆

written by razzalgool on 23/11/2015

I booked the car via the doyouspain site and then started receiving emails from doyouspain to buy the extra insurance to avoid any hassles at the counter. I opted for the comprehensive insurance for the peace of mind. It proved completely the opposite. The rental company did not accept the doyouspain insurance and did not understand why doyouspain continues to sell even though doyouspain are fully aware of this fact. This meant that I still had to pay the €850 deposit in cash or credit card. I ended up making a new reservation with insurance directly from the rental company. Doyouspain pointed out that they will not refund the amount I paid for the insurance I bought from them since they had put a disclaimer in the email they sent to me after I my purchase. Doyouspain is not about car rentals, it is about selling dubious insurance!

This has happened to me in September when having been told I had fully comprehensive insurance they still took £350 from my credit card deposit for slight bump to read bumper
Having done a bit of research it seems a common theme
Don't be fooled by the lower rates book direct and avoid them at all costs

If you have taken the insurance with DoYouSpain, you can make a claim on their website to get a refund of any charge for damages. You should be able to find the links to make a claim under "Claims information" on the documents of your policy.

Hi razzalgool

The same information you find on the emails that are sent to you after confirmation is on the website as "Terms and Conditions". It's responsability of any customer to read those conditions and if DoYouSpain send you the conditions again per email is not to try to hide things, but to make more visible those conditions so you can modify or cancel with no cost before pick up hour.

Both conditions of the car hire and our insurance say that you have to leave a deposit to the rental company at the desk. In case of accident, you claim any charge for damages o us since you are fully covered with our insurance.
