Rental was without any issues (Magic Island), nice new car without any issues. We were upgraded to automatic gear. Car was powerful enough able to go uphill without any issue (compare to weak fiat 500 from previous year /different rental company/).

“Bait-and-switch”

[My review copied from Trustpilot because I can't be bothered to tailor it to Review Centre]: Filter the reviews on here by 1 star and you will see the truth about this company rather than all the misleading 5 star bot reviews DiscoverCars have flooded Trustpilot with. As others have mentioned in their reviews and as was my own recent experience, DiscoverCars clearly have no problem at all with promoting car rental companies that run bait-and-switch fraud. The company they promoted to me through their platform was Fun Way Car Rental, Jordan. Absolute crooks who forced me to fork out more than three times the original price for the car rental for what they claimed was “additional insurance cover” but which I believe was simply the true cost of the rental all along due to the fact that there was absolutely no way that the car rental owner was allowing anyone (including customers ahead of me in the queue, and several customers on Fun Way’s Google reviews) to collect the vehicle they had booked until they had paid the extra. I am experienced in renting cars overseas and always decline any additional insurance as I will always take out a separate policy out to claim back the excess in case of accident/damage and will always have multiple visa/mastercard credit cards with me to be able to put down the higher security deposit. This case was no different but the rental company wouldn’t budge on the matter and forced me to pay the increased rental price regardless, otherwise I would have had to walk away without a car stranded in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. DiscoverCars don’t provide their contact number (which doesn’t get through to them anyway as I later found out) and there’s a wait time of about 24 hours for a response via online message/email so there’s no support from them available while you’re at the rental desk despite what they claim. I reported the matter to them immediately after picking up the car but they have continuously sought to avoid accepting any responsibility, shown zero empathy towards my situation, accepted the fraudulent car rental company’s word over mine and closed my complaint with no refund offered. The best they could offer after a great deal of hounding was some pathetic booking credit to use on their site with another of their fraudulent car rental associates in future. I insisted that they take Fun Way off their books in order to protect future customers from being scammed but this request was met with radio silence by DiscoverCars. Save yourself the stress and use a different comparison site/broker instead because DiscoverCars are not a legitimate company and the prices they state are nowhere near the actual price you will be forced to pay when you reach the rental desk. If you’re reading this, DiscoverCars, my booking reference is DC-7060616. Hopefully this will save you resorting to your usual “you don’t appear to be a genuine customer of ours” response or even your “email us your booking number so we can pursue this case for you” when you have no intention of helping your customers out and all you care about is protecting your brand’s image.

No standing in queues to fill in endless forms - everything was done online beforehand. The rep met us on arrival and took us straight to the car - super easy! Dropoff was also easy. She forgot to send the instructions of where to go, but I got through to someone on the phone who sent them through immediately. Great value for money and customer service.

Quick pick-up and drop-off of the vehicle. Small damage declaration quickly quoted and delivery of all the documents to activate the insurance taken out when booking on discovercars. Simple online declaration of damage, fast processing of the claim and prompt reimbursement by online insurance. Impressed and very satisfied with all the services provided. Two points to note: the high volume of the shuttle radio on arrival and the lack of indications and signs for the pick-up location at Porto airport.

“Very poor experience ”

Discover cars review My experience was very poor. Hired a Kia with Europcar through Discovercars for a weekend in Wellington. Urban/city driving only. Took out full coverage insurance. Europcar subsequently itnformed me that damage was incurred. I’d had no accidents or impacts, what was shown were predominantly pock marks on the wheels and a minor scuff on the bumper, perhaps from foliage? Nothing that prevented the car from being driven and what I would have thought would be considered to be normal wear and tear. Not to Europcar it seems. I was told a full damage assessment would take 3-90 days to complete! Informed Discovercars right away. The “easy” claims process is done online and should be completed within a month - although Europcar themselves explicitly state assessments can take up to 90 days.. Over the next couple of months there were over 20 emails from DiscoverCars, one closing my request despite me not receiving the assessment from Europcar, many requests for feedback and a few “friendly reminders” for me to respond before closing my case - again despite me still waiting for Europcar to provide an assessment. Finally the assessment arrives! And, under the conditions of the full coverage insurance I have, I have to pay that first and then invoice DiscoverCars - very clunky I thought. All in all the process has taken almost 3 months from claim to receipt of the money. The upshot is: I’ll never hire a Kia again (damage so easily incurred during routine driving doesn’t exactly bode well for a crash); I’ll never use Europcar; or Discovercars either. I’ll also be very careful to read the T & Cs of full coverage insurance.

Has anyone found someone in customer support that is able to assist with an existing case? I am having an issue filing a claim and it appears no one at Discover cars is available to engage or escalate at this point. We had a not so great experience with the rental car vendor (America Cars in Mexico) and they will not release the final invoice for the damage of a popped tire. They do not deny that the damage occurred, or that we were covered by Discover Cars, and I do have the receipt and bank account statement. They just are not providing the final invoice. They are claiming that this is our own fault for booking with Discover Cars as opposed to purchasing insurance directly from them. Discover Cars will not refund without the final invoice. Has anyone encountered this before? Any tips to resolve? Seems odd that Discover Cars would partner with a vendor that will not cooperate in getting them what they need to provide a customer what they paid for (insurance that covers a flat).

Hi! I have not credit card, only debit card! If they do not accept it, I cancel the reservation. I read they don't give money back but give credit points. This is true? What can I do?

You may have to accept credit points for another journey if you cancel. You always have to use a credit card when it comes to rental

Sometimes the price differential relates to whether the car can be picked up and dropped off rom the airport or not. Discovery do provide this from one of the car parks at Faro which to me is worth paying a bit extra over those that drive you off to some pick up point in Faro.

Second driver prices differs from region and car rental agency, when selecting desired location and period of travel, you are able to see the prices under each car "Rate & Car details".

I have never heard of this company. The prices seem to good. Has anyone used them in Orlando? How did you get to the their offices? They are around 6 miles from the airport. Any feed back will be appreciated.

I have used them a couple of times to rent vehicles in Portugal. they are a broker, they arranged our car though local car hire companies, once with Europa another time with International Car Hire. prices were good. had no problems with them at all. hope this helps Cheers
