Car Del Mar (Thailand)

I have used Car Del Mar for many years in Chiang Mai, Thailand though, these days, I have my own car and only need their services when I am far from that city. I can only remember one slight hiccup and that was in November 2010 when the local supplier (Thai Rent A Car) had not received notification from their Bangkok Office. When the booked car did not arrive at the apartment I phoned and after a few minutes they discovered what had happened. They apologised, told me that no car of that category was available and would i mind having a large 4WD (Toyota Fortuner) instead. Less than a hour after the appointed time, I was under way. My experiences with their local supplier have been exemplary.

Last week I needed a car in Phuket so, naturally, arranged it through CarDelMar. I'm always anxious when renting a car having heard and read about all the scams that operate so was interested to see how Thai Rent A Car treated me in Phuket. It was the same story, the car was carefully checked for dents and scratches and Baht5000 reserved on my credit card. Check out was rapid as was check in when I arrived for my return flight. There were no problems and my deposit was returned. Fuel policy is full to full unlike the wicked full to empty ripoff used by some concerns in Europe.

On one occasion when Thai Rent A Car closed an office, CarDelMar phoned me to let me know what was happening but I was able to assure them that it would not affect me as the car would be delivered as usual. This is over and above the service that one might expect

The CarDelMar website is easy to use and, even if the car I require is available only on request, the confirmation and paperwork follow very quickly. In short, I have been very happy with CarDelMar in the six or seven years I've been using them.
