I had booked a car rental with Budget Orlando airport via Expedia; the deal was "all inclusive" and I had paid for all insurances at the time of booking. I was greeted by a polite Budget staff, who made me sign an agreement letter with a couple of places requiring my initials. I have hired cars at many airports and have been through such form fillings. But, upon my return I saw a charge of 238 US Dollars and I immediately called Budget and they said I had signed up for two optional insurances.
I disputed their claim and was offered 50% refund, which I refused to take. Now let’s see if my credit card company can step in and resolve the issue else I will be 238 dollars (plus currency conversion charges) poorer.
The point I am trying to make is, that unlike me who had signed up late at night to heavy charges, please read Budget’s agreement as they make you sign up – in my case the reason was “our computer systems are down, so we will have to fill paperwork manually” . I wasn’t going to argue at 1am Eastern US time having left the UK at about 10am the previous morning with children.
