“Photograph the Speedometer”

They deducted additional charges for exceeding the daily mileage allowance, without providing an invoice which can be challenged, I only became aware of the additional charge when I went online to check my credit card for something else, BUT the worse thing is that they charged me for exceeding the daily allowance when I had not even reached it.  Fortunately I always take photos of the cars and speedometers before and after I collect any car. I used RentalCars.Com who are part of Booking.Com, both are useless and are about to get a Small Claim action against them. They also claimed that a Dacia was an uograde on the Ford Focus, which they had allocated to me until I told them that I had my own CDW insurance.

“Low brakes and low cooler level”

We have got a car, it needed to be checked and to pass a service, the brake pads needed to be change, cooler level to low and more lights on a screen, we were traveling in a winter time, when is snowing and ice on a road, with 2 kids. We have contacted a company asking to do something, 1 day they pretended, have not got a photos, even we saw they have got, next day just ignoring our emails, when we came back, we have got an answer: why you were sending an emails you needed to go back(600km???) and to change a car. If they can't answer an email, how we can be sure they will change a car, I am not talking that we were traveling Germany- Austria. I am not sure can they rent this king of car at all..

“DO NOT USE”

I wish that I had read some of these reviews before I hired as I have had the same experience as so many others. The car was returned with no damage and two weeks later they charged over £650 to my credit card without any notification. It is impossible to talk to anyone by phone and only after multiple emails did they even bother to reply. They then send a load of communication in German as well as some extremely grainy photographs that did not satisfactorily identify the vehicle nor were they date stamped. Since that reply, they have continued to ignore my emails and I have had to make a claim against my insurance policy. I would certainly consider this a fraudulent transaction and other than trying to start legal proceedings against a company in a foreign country that continues to ignore me, I have nowhere to go . DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

“Wish we had read the reviews before hiring”

My husband & colleague hired a car at Stuttgart Airport and took out the full protection for €70. The car was not inspected prior to them taking it but they examined it anyway. Upon returning the car they inspected it but still nobody from Buchbinder came to look. Whilst checking the credit card I noticed an additional payment for €46.41. After calling the car rental I was told it was a "processing fee" and would appear to be for damage to the bumper. I explained there was no damage and was told to email the company, which I did. I have requested an explanation for the additional cost and photographic evidence - No reply so I emailed again - no reply. After reading all of these reviews I have emailed them to advise that event though it is only €40+ if I do not received a satisfactory response to my email I will pass this to our legal department and Buchbinder will then have to pay our legal fees and refund us the money they took. We are visiting a customer in Germany for a while but we will not be using this company again - seems like they are very deceitful.

“Thiefs...”

I rented a car in Stuttgart airport, and was asked to check the car, in a dark garage with hardly any lighting, and on top of this, on a black car. I could not find any damage (going around with the light from the mobile phone). When returning the car (which had done 30km, to a hotel parking, to a customer & back), they found scratches on the top (roof) of the car, a place where I obviously had not checked as it seems unlikely to be exposed to scratches... They debited over 700€ from my credit card without even informing me. I was quite upset. I consider they did not do their job to start with, or maybe they do this on purpose so they can charge people every time. I tried to explain this to them but there was no way for them to accept my complaint. Avoid them if you can !!

Stay away from this company: they can take your money and pretend that it is ok. I rent a car in Munich airport. After a month(!) they charged 500 eur from my card without any proofs or documentation, while i absolutely sure that there were no damaged done to the car. They do not answer and just ignore all my messages

“Buchbinder, Munich - Big Shammer!”

List of cheats experienced with Buchbinder at Munich Airport. I think this has to be reported to Germany tourism board to stop their acts going on! and apparently we are not the only victim! 1. We booked and paid for BM X1 but we were informed that this car was not available and were asked to take Ford Edge. From BM downgraded to Ford by telling how good was Ford Edge and NO UPGRADE FEE CHARGEABLE WAS MENTIONED UPFRONT TO US! If we knew there is such fee for downgrading we would not agree with such deal! Now you dont have the car we paid and wanted us to take another car, rightfully there should be compensation from you by giving vehicle with better car specs! You did not yet still want us to pay more for unintended vehicle?? 2. We were told that the EUR 250 + EUR 779.45 were insurance and would be refunded if vehicle was returned undamaged. We were very curious and asked about why was that EUR 779.45, we asked for 4 times, and for that 4 times the Monaco guy answered no worry that would be refunded if vehicle was returned unharmed. I was still puzzled and confirmed in another manner that total payable amount would be what we have paid online was it? He assured again with nod YES! I thought about videoing down his confirmation but held back as I felt so rude to do this with his friendly face. With trust on Germany's high credibility practice we then left to collect our car. It was a huge regret for us now for not doing so!! What's more regret was that we still paid to wash the car! 3. When we returned car and asked for document of refundable deposit, thunder shock that we were informed only EUR 250 was refundable. We patiently waited for the Monaco guy that served us that day, finally he came but he denied what he told and telling only EUR250 was refundable and EUR779.45 was charges inclusive of premium upgrade. We asked to see manager but got rejected by telling manager was not available. We were asked to write in complain if there was any unsatisfactory. We got no choice, we had to leave to catch our flight with huge disappointment and things unsolved, and this must be what they wanted. We knew we would not get back our money after we left, but what else can we do? Transaction was not conducted with honesty and necessary details were not communicated upfront. How can they still be allowed to continue business in this way and cheat customers' hard earned money? The rating I wanted to give was no star - Suck!

“I had the misfortune of dealing with this shower at...”

I had the misfortune of dealing with this shower at Frankfurt airport. Booked a 7 seater because I was advised that it would be a Ford Galaxy or similar. When I arrived I was told that I would be getting an Ford SMax which is smaller than the Galaxy and the rear seats are only for the smallest people. When I asked if a Ford Galaxy was available I was told that it was available but because it was an automatic it would cost €75 more. It turned out that the SMax I was given was also an automatic but the guy on the desk was trying to shcam me. When I pointed this out all he could do was laugh it off. If you enjoy being treated like a piece of you know what, then Buchbinder is for you.

“Terrible traumatic car rental experience”

STAY AWAY FROM BUCHBINDER. They use fraudulent practices to get to keep your excess. I will definitely never ever use them again and i would warn others not to do so either.

“Rude employees and overcharged on my account”

On May 16, 2016, I paid $127.50 to AutoEurope for an Intermediate 4 door car (conf #4760178). This was for a round trip 1 day rental from the Vienna City Office from Buchbinder. While traveling I inadvertently when to the Vienna Airport to pick up the car instead of the Vienna City office. I contacted AutoEurope and told them about his situation. AutoEurope said there shouldn’t be a problem getting the car at the airport. Upon arriving at the airport, I attempted to explain his situation to the Buchbinder reservationist and was met with extreme rudeness. I contacted AutoEurope on the phone again. The agent asked to speak with the receptionist but she refused to speak with the AutoEurope representative at first but eventually she did. Finally, after a great deal of time and difficulty, being shooed away from the desk with a wave of her hand, I went back to talk to the Buchbinder representative. I was told she could only rent me a car if I agreed to cancel his AutoEurope reservation. Obviously I agreed and was finally given a rental. Upon returning home, I discovered I was not only over charged $449.64 by Buchbinder for the ONE day rental, but I was also charged $38.32 for fuel. I filled up the car prior to returning it at the BP station right outside of their office. I forwarded a copy of my charge care statement showing the charge at the BP station to no avail. Essentially, I paid $487.96 for a 1 day rental on top of the $127.50 I paid to AutoEurope in May. Oh yes plus fuel $38.32. On top of all of that I was treated very rudely by the employees at the Buchbinder Wein (Vienna) airport. Never again!

“I had to give them one star, but they don't deserve...”

I had to give them one star, but they don't deserve any! I rented a car from these people at Munich airport. I had taken the basic insurance when I rented online. I am a careful driver, and would accept the blame for any damage which occurred during my rental period. However, I was asked to authorise an excess of 1100 euro, before I could take the car. During my rental, this transaction was charged to my account. On returning the car undamaged, having covered less than 400km, I left the car in a line of other hire cars, with the keys in the ignition. This was at the request of the Buckbinder/Global Drive staff, who also assured me my excess would 'be automatically refunded'. The 'automatic' refund has still not been returned to my account, ten days after I returned the car. To make things much worse, Buckbinder have now charged me 722.15 euro for repairs to the car. The repairs were for a 5 to 20cm scratch on the front passenger door. I am 100% convinced I didn't do this, nor was it scratched when I left the car. There wasn't any marks on the car when i collected it, but, with the car having done 30000km, I didn't expect it to be blemish free. A visual inspection didn't give me any cause for concern. The alleged damage could have been done at any time after I left the car. These people appear to make money out of conning their customers with bogus or fictitious damage claims. DO NOT HIRE FROM THEM OR ANY OF THEIR ASSOCIATES. I will protest these transactions. I want my money back and will involve the Munich police if necessary. This is a criminal offence.

“Polite but too slow considering we booked in advance”

The good thing was . . . we had a good upgrade for no extra charge! However, having booked three weeks in advance, we had to wait one and a half hours for the car, which was as long as our flight from Birmingham, England! A polite young man dealt with us however, and on return a week later another polite and very helpful young man was there to sign off the car. I was worried that we'd missed the last petrol station before the airport but there's a big one right on the island at the point where you get to terminal 2 - the sign for car rental returns is rather late so, fill up then go back to the island but keep to the right as the little road down to rental returns comes up rather quickly. I don't know why I've read so many poor reviews of Buchbinder, you'd go a long way to find a cheaper hire company.

“Rip - Off”

The car was good, but when I returned it on August 14, 2016, the attendant pointed out some scratches that I did not make. I told him I didn't do it. He said he could tell, but that because I didn't note them when I signed for the car, I was liable for them. They were so small I didn't notice them at first. He told me to sign a form and write that I was signing to return the car, not for the damages. When I returned home, I got an email from them telling me they had charged my credit card to fix the scratches - over 600 Euros - and I didn't do it! I will not use this company again. Pay more for a reputable company. I travel regularly, so for Buchbinder to screw me like this makes no business sense. Sure, Buchbinder got my money, but with good service, I would have given Buchbinder repeat business worth much more. Instead, all I will give Buchbinder is negative reviews.

Alert ! caution ! Stay away from "Buchbinder"!!! Hello all,let me share my awful experience with "Buchbinder" also in Munich branch. I have rented a car using "economycarrentals" web site from June 10 till June 13th. At first I was supposed to get BMW series 1 or similar that the staff in "buchbinder" couldn't supply beacuse "we dont have it", then I had to pay more for much expensive BMW series 5 car. I have returned the car in perfect condition on June 13th,then on June 28 (15 days after the car was returned ) my credit card was being charged without any notification for 856 euros. I mailed "Buchbinder" and they replied saying that "dent damage" on rear bumper was found. Luckily I have taken pictures of the BMW pre & post renting. I also informed "economycarrentals" and my "visa" credit card. It looks like "Buchbinder" try to walk there way out now using bureaucracy but I dont give up... I wrote them that they need to provide explanations regarding the following: 1. If any damage has happened by me how come I wasn't told about the damage instantly on the spot at the return time by "buchbinder" inspector who took the car key? 2. Does "buchbinder" have any damage report confirmed and signed with my signature as it should be in such a case ? 3. If any damage has happened by me how come I wasn't notified immediately by e.mail on the following day or following 2-3 days ? 4. The car was returned on June 13th the repair invoice is from June 27th two weeks after return, is it not more than strange that it takes 2 weeks for repairing a minor dent ? 5.When I have returned the car it was parked in series one after another, in the blurry picture sent to me it is parked parallel meaning someone drove it after I left. 6. When I have returned the car I turned off the motor and head lights and gave the car key to "buchbinder" staff member, in the blurry picture sent to me the head lights are on, Meaning again as in section 5 that someone drove it after I left. 7.The blurry un clear pictures that allegedly show the damage which was defined by "buchbinder" mail as "dent on rear bumper" are very unclear and also not matched and can Easily defined as normal wear and tear. were as the damage type & location on pictures different from each other, one picture show dent type at certain location while the other show scratch type in another orientation, furthermore there is no proof that this allegedly car damage is on the car I rented - the car license plate is absent from the allegedly damage pictures. Conclusion: AVOID "Buchbinder" IT IS A BAD COMPANY !!! "You can foll some people some of the time but you cant fool all people all the time". * always take pictures before and after rent.

I rented a Bmw 1 series from Vienna airport , and was given a Skoda rapid ! told it was same group , Bmw is 25000 euro , Skoda is 15000 euro, dont trust them.

“BEWARE of Deposits”

“Bad customer service”

We were stranded without any arrangement of a new car and have to bear all the cost while waiting for the new one which taken up almost a day. All our plans to have an europe tour had to be changed and missed lots of attractions. Bad customer service in total. U can just leave people stranded guys.

We too are being DONE by Buchbinder in Munich. We hired a car for three days on 29/3/16. We drove it straight to the hotel where it stayed for the duration of our holiday, and then without deviation back to the airport, where we left it in a queue of parked hire cars. The people checking over the cars told us just to leave it and it would be checked in due course. Low and behold there now seems to have been a non documented scratch on the front bumper and we are being charged €1000. We definitely did NOT put the scratch on the car but due to the system we have no proof. And this is a car that was not even pretending to be new. It has scratches and bumps everywhere. The problem here is that the onus is on the customer to prove they did not do the damage, which unless you take detailed photos of the entire car you cannot do. Avoid this company at all costs.

“I guess this guys are trying to trick clients!”

Have rented a car in December 2015 in Frankfurt Airport. In March 2016 I received a letter from them: Buchbinder wanted me to pay fee for travelling toll road in Austria in January 2016... and the car number was different. I have contacted them – the person I dealt with from debit control said that it was a mistake but in 7 days I have received new letter chasing me for money. 3 letters in total. I guess this guys are trying to trick clients this way, because not everyone will check all the details especially in Eastern Europe (they send a letter in Deutsch, not even English) and someone will pay for sure. I will never use their service again.

“Suck, lier!!! Awful!”

We had booked for BMW serie 2 on web, however we got the car SKODA!!!??? When we react the problem, they said they do not have BMW now, and SKODA have SAME quality with BMW???? Joke me?? In German!!?? Lire!! We pay the money for BMW but now we got a cheaper SKODA! They also charge a very high deposit about 550 EUR! We will never hire a car from the company!
