Terrible experience! Don't use Avis. In October 2014 I hired a car for two days from Avis in Madrid. I was planning to drive from Madrid (Atocha) to Asturias and drop off in Oviedo at a cost of 252 Euros. On the second day leaving Salamanca it broke down while diving on the highway. I phoned Avis and they sent a mechanic. He assessed it as not having power and towed the car away. He left us in the highway for a taxi to pick us & then drop us off at the bus station 10 kms away. Avis then proceeded to charge me 671 Euros extra for towing a car which they argue was in working condition. Seriously, who would choose to stop driving a car that is in working condition in the middle of a highway?
