Good & bad

I have used this car hire company many times when visiting Tenerife, but had a problem with our visit in July 2014. The girl at the counter said the tank was a quarter full but there was less than that in it. That is not a big problem, but on collecting the car I headed for the petrol station at the airport, at which point the gear box failed. I had to try to steer the car into the taxi rank - you can imagine the reaction of the taxi drivers who seemed to think I was a silly female driver. Fortunately, I was close enough to walk back into the airport and get someone to look at the car. I eventually got a replacement and we were on our way. I wonder, however, after reading the other reviews re breakdowns if we would have been so well served had we broken down somewhere remote.

I have never had any problems with their service in the past. I have found them quick and efficient - at Tenerife, you can collect the keys and pay for the car in the time it takes your travelling companions to pick up the cases. I am not bothered if the car is older or had a few knocks as there have been no safety issues and I have used them on half a dozen occasions.

I think I would use autoreisen again but have had a confidence knock!
