We made an online booking w/ autounion (thessaloniki) last week; on the website it looks like they have 3-4 different offices downtown (with clickable links, working hours, etc.); to my surprise there was an additional 35 EUR fee if you want to pick up your car from anywhere else but the airport that shows up AFTER you complete the registration & enter your credit card details. fine, we decided to go to the airport, as they anyway charged us 17 EUR booking fee already. We called them (on the number of the Thessaloniki office!) to make sure that everything is alright w/ the booking; someone that spoke horrible English and that was completely inadequate (babies were screaming in the background.. WTF), informed us that we have reached their office in Athens and provided us with another number. They let us know that there is a shuttle bus every 10 min from the airport to their office; we waited for 40 min. at the end, calling again their office in Thessaloniki but miraculously reaching the office in Athens (someone promised to call usback - well, it never happened).
After waiting for so long they gave us a completely different car, presenting it as a better one ("but it's bigger!", when we wanted a small car in fact), refusing to give us any explanation or even excuse for the overcharging, their horrible service, the waiting, etc. One guy was doing the registrations, was answering the phone, was driving the shuttle bus, was taking us to the car.
Horrible service, everything was a mess. Not one single thing they did right. I'd never recommend it to anyone.
