Just leave it in the car park!

Efficient service for collection of vehicle on arrival in Portugal. Vehicle clean and in fair condition. Not what had been ordered, but of comparable size and completely suitable for our purposes.

However, drop off was an unacceptable shambles. Agreed at time of collection with hire company (Local Cars) representative that on return a representative would be present at an allotted time at same location to assess vehicle and sign off agreement and cancel credit card deposit. I arrived 30mins before agreed time and was advised by a different company's personnel that there was no representative present on site and I would need to wait for someone to arrive or call the telephone number on the agreement to be advised. Called number several times but not answered. Waited 20mins past the agreed time but still no show from hire company and no response on phone. Nobody on site was willing to take responsibility for the vehicle.

Fortunately, a representative from a rival company eventually assisted in resolving the situation. It was necessary to leave the vehicle, with no assurance that charges would not be debited from my credit card account.

I have been using 'Atlas Choice' for a number years for car hire in Portugal and have always had complete satisfaction, but this was the first time with this particular hire company (Local Cars).
