Having arrived at Orlando Airport in Florida after a long flight we were expecting to pick up a "Luxury" car which we had pre booked and paid for back in the U.K.

The queue to collect the paperwork at the Alamo desk was horrendous, but we eventually made our way out to the storage area. The Luxury car we were about to set off in we discovered was not roadworthy, as the rear seatbelt was frayed and broken. We pointed this out to the Alamo rep in the car park, and he took the vehicle off of the road. The only other vehicle he could offer us was a lower spec car (Ford Crown Victoria), which he tried to pass off to us as a "Luxury" car! After a lot of wrangling he eventually offered us a 10% discount which we agreed to (as we were so tired!) and he signed and gave us his business card to this effect, and asked us to speak to the rental desk when we returned the vehicle to obtain our discount.

Upon our return to the Rental desk they refused to give us the 10% discount from the rental price, stationg they were unable to credit anything back onto my credit card. After a lot of heated debate with the manager, he gave us $100 worth of vouchers which expire in a year. I pointed out that we wouldn't be renting in USA but wanted to rent in Europe this yeart, and they said this was "no problem as we could book anywhere in the world through them" to make use of the vouchers, and gave me a business card with who to email to sort this out for us. Three weeks ago I emailed the contact about this and have heard nothing! No one has even had the courtesy to respond!! Don't use this money-grabbing, dishonest company if you wish to retain your sanity!
