We booked a car via Indigo but found the same vehicle had been discounted within an hour of the booking by the suppliers. We tried to contact Indigo for the rest of that day and the next (Friday late afternoon and all day saturday as they advertise a 24hr service) but were unable to speak to anyone there. We contacted the supplier directly and explained what had happened. They agreed to amend the booking to the new discounted price but needed to know if we still wanted to use the Indigo reference number or a new one issued by them. I thought as Indigo had intially done the searching for a price and a car hire firm willing to accept debit cards they shoud earn whatever commission there was and I asked to keep the booking under Indigio's name and hopefully they would call me back to sort out their booking. We did eventually receive a call back on the Sunday afternoon from Cherie Walker and she sorted out the amended price and issued a confirmation email. I would strongly advise any potential hirer to purchase excess damage wavier insurance from somewhere (search internet for cheapest price) as a small scratch (almost 2.5cm long!!) made by a pushchair or similar touching the car's alloy wheel cost me a small fortune when returning the car. My excess waiver insurance company reimbursed me without fuss within a couple of weeks. It still annoys me today that one minute with T-Cut and the offending scratch would have been gone but I just didn't notice it until the car companys rep pointed it out on the return inspection. Thank goodness for insurance!!. I would use Indigio again and would recommend them to anyone, when you do get hold of them they are polite and efficent you couldn't ask for more.

Thank you very much for your comments, i am really sorry to hear you struggled to get hold of us to amend your reservation, i can assure you this is very unusual. Anybody reading this the best contact number which is on the website is 0044 (0)113 2899281 and we will aim to answer all calls 24/7 a day.
I will agree with you, taking some sort of insurance in a good idea as car hire suppliers will charge for scratches/damage. Taking the car hire suppliers direct insurance can also be costly. A good alternative is excess reimbursement which from your message above sounds like this is what you have. Here is a policy we offer over the telephone to customers querying the options of how to cover car hire excess - See link below:

When you next need a car hire please ask for myself and i will personally arrange for you.

In response to Cherie Walker's comments, I appreciate it may have been unusual not to be able to contact you but I also emailled as well as calling yourselves. However, hopefully it was just an isolated incident and keep up the good work. The supplier was Green Motion who seem to adding to their cheap hire charges by charging costly "damage fees". The scratch I was charged for was so fresh and small it could have been done in the car park of the gatwick drop off point between the time I walked into reception and returned with the rep to check the car over. Green Motion seem to be gathering a bit of a reputation, see internet, for these charges. This is the first time in over twenty years of hiring cars I have ever been charged for any damage and looking through the different reviews it seems that the car hire companies seem to be making more of these claims. So some form of excess reimbursement insurance is an absolute must. Mine was from Worldwide Travel insurance services which was an AXA policy. It was the cheapest out there and was exactly the same policy being resold by many different operators. My advice would be to check the car over very carefully when you collect it and make sure every mark, scratch, chip or dent is noted on the hire forms and if it is too dark make an arrangement with the hire company to telephone them if you find anything in the morning. And when you return the car check it over carefully yourself before leaving it otherwise anything could happen. If I was being suspicious I would make the point that car hire operators are cutting hire costs to the bone and every extra pound/dollar/euro is an extremely welcome bonus. The type of insurance I bought was cheap, think it was just £3 per day and it reimbursed all of the excess not covered under the normal hire insurance, the same type of policy from a car hire company is about £17 per day. It was worth every penny. Generally, as this is a review of INDIGO I say that Indigo for their part were excellent my only small problem was contacting them for a day or so but when I did speak to them nothing was too much bother. My point of contact at Indigo was Cherie Walker..Thanks.
