I thought how can these guys do car rental for so cheap per day - the car must be a wreck or its a trick . . . Well . . . No! The car was an almost brand new fiat 500 clean and in good mechanical order with every comfort. The way they make their money is by charging for a "full tank" and then you should bring the car back empty. So Drivalia must make a little per car on average as every return must have some petrol in it to get it back there! This is like invisible money and we don't seem to count this in our budgets - its like "operating cost" rather than "capital cost".
Because we had it for 4 days though - and drove from Alicante to Valencia and around, it didnt matter and we used all the petrol in the tank and then put just enough extra in to get it back to airport(but even then I estimate there must have been 10 to 20 euro in the reserve level).
I love this business model - it gives you a cheap option to hire a good car - then puts the onus on you to be as careful as you can with the fuelling.
Transfers from airport to depot were speedy, clean, spacious and the girls were very helpful and friendly.
Insurance was included and excess insurance was offered (we already had this but the rates were competitive).
Well done Drivalia.
