- long queues;
- a worrying obsession with tiny scratches on the car (which serious car hire companies take a relaxed view on);
- a ridiculously high insurance excess obviously intended to pressure you into buying further insurance;
- a complete failure to explain the new tolls recently introduced throughout Portugal. when I returned the car and raised the subject of tolls, they told me that their staff should have discussed options for paying tolls with me when picking the car up. unable to pay the tolls from abroad, I am forced to wait for a penalty notice to arrive
