I arrived in Milan Bergamo with my husband at the start of July on our honeymoon. Our flight was on time from but our baggage was one of the last to come off the plane. We went straight to the Maggiore office, arriving at 22.09. Unbeknown to us the official closing time of the office is 22.00 - after this is considered "out of hours'' and liable to a 'call-out fee'. There were two girls sitting in the office sorting out car keys. On entering the office we were subject to a tirade of abuse from the girl behind the desk. She was extremely aggressive, shouting at us that we had arrived "out-of-hours" and that we must pay an additional 40 euros. "Look at the time, look at the time, we close 22.00!!!!" We were initially completely shocked and confused. We didn't understand why she was shouting at us, My husband apologised and explained that we had just picked up our baggage and we unaware that the office closed at 22.00 - our online broker had not made us aware of this. But the girl spoke over us, shouting at us repeatedly to "look at the time on the door" of the office. We felt like we were children being chastised for bad behaviour. She then demanded our credit card, and of course charged us the out-of-hours call-out fee - completely unnecessary seeing as we didn't have to call anyone out. Begrudgingly - because it was late & we couldn't deal with her attitude anymore - we handed it over. If it had been earlier in the day I most definitely would have left the office and booked with a different company.

We have travelled the world, been on hundreds of flights, rented a lot of cars - and this is by far the worst experience we have had at an airport. Customer Service is truly dead. I often wonder where the kind, compassionate people have gone. In the end it wasn't even the additional 40 euros the upset us - but rather the attitudes and lack of humanity from the staff at Maggiore. We are both doctors and would never ever be disrespectful or aggressive towards one of our patients. Why should people get away with this behaviour in other jobs? We are totally appalled.

Needless to say we will never be renting with Maggiore ever again.
