This was my 1st experience of buying a 2nd hand car but the Salesman was very helpful throughout the process. For this I would award him personally 4*.
My concern comes with the sales manager? who talked me through buying extra warranty for the vehicle. It was explained to me that if 'anything' went wrong with the vehicle the warranty would cover the cost of getting it repaired, parts & labour,at any garage, just call and the bill will be settled, its peace of mind etc etc. As I am on a tight budget this sounded appealing so after some thought I went through with the purchase of extra warranty.Once my payment had been made I was sent away with my vehicle and the warranty booklet. On reading the booklet it seems everything is not covered by the warranty and especially if it breaks down due to 'wear and tear'(I am under the impression that the majority of parts break due to 'wear and tear')On contacting the person who sold me this he said I would be covered if I broke down and assured me that 'most' claims would be paid for.I was not advised to any excess on the warranty nor if I would have to settle any garage bills myself then reclaim the money! I am at a loss as to what to do now.Do I ask for my money back (unlikely I will get it)or do I sit back and pray my car doesn't need repairs, as due to the cost of the extra warranty I now have no money to pay for repairs myself should I not be covered! I really am not confident about this warranty, and would ask Wilsons management to review how their sales people sell these policies as if they are working on a commission basis I believe these warranty's are being mis-sold.

P.S....The 4 stars are for the salesman Michael Knight in being helpful, polite and understanding of my needs within my budget.
I will be following up my belief that I was mis-sold the extra warranty with the Senior management of Wilsons by letter and then with the Trading Standards should I not get the response I expect from Wilsons.

Hi, I am the MD here at Wilsons. This confusion re the extended warranty can easily be cleared up. It is an outstanding product backed by the AA that most of our customers decide to take as it will provide you with peace of mind, if and when the unforeseen takes place. I would like my Senior Business Manager to talk you through this, so that you are 100% clear on the benefits this will give you. BUT you have my commitment that if you still are not happy I will be happy to refund the policy. It is so important to me that our customers ‘drive away happy’. We are a local family business that really do care about our customers. Please email your name, mobile number and details of the car you bought to smd@wilsons.co.uk

I have since discovered that my car needs a new timing belt something I was not told at the test drive nor before the point of sale nor at the point of collection even though it was on the service document, and suprise, suprise it is NOT covered by the extra warranty I purchased.
When I saw this on the service document (carried out by Wilsons once my deposit had been paid) I asked Wilsons about it and I was told it is written on all service documents as a guide. After speaking with the Wilsons service department and their mechanic I was told the timing belt would need to be changed asap due to the age of the vehicle. I asked what warning I would have to know when the timing belt was 'going' and needed to be done, only to be told I wouldn't have any warning and I really didn't want to wait for it to break.I was quoted over £700 to supply and fit the recommended timing belt. I was astonished at this and can not afford to have this work done so am now worried that I may be driving a car that could break at any moment without warning!
Samantha at Wilsons has asked me to contact them regarding the extra warranty I purchased and will be doing so in writing along with my comments and concerns regarding this matter.
