“Worse car sales company ever dealt with. Lies and Lies”

★☆☆☆☆

written by greigmcarthur on 09/01/2024

My fiancé went to Carz at Hillington and we spoke to the salesman (June 2021). We described that she required a 4 wheel drive car with sat nav, being a nurse and the travelling she does, we specifically requested a 4 wheel drive. The salesman showed us a Nissan Qashqai which met our requirements (so he said). Anyway when we collected the car there was no Sat nav and the salesman told us it’s on order and it’ll be there in a couple of weeks. Well months passed and contacted them again, then we were told these take 8 months to come from Nissan. (Got one on eBay next day delivery)…. But thank you Reg Vardy. Still haven’t received the one from you yet. Over 2 years . Now, Couple of years later (now), my fiancé was complaining of the car sliding on the road often. I took the car to my local a garage for a MOT and service and I asked him to check it out as it’s meant to be a 4 wheel drive. To our shock, we were told this car was not a 4 wheel drive, which we were told it was and that’s why we purchased it. As you can see by this above, the company and the salespeople are just complete liars and they don’t care about customers. How companies and people like this can actually sleep at night known they’ve lied and ripped off innocent people. Shame on these people and as a company, hopefully you won’t get away with doing this to customers much longer. The more people who hear about the terrible practices in your company I hope more stay away. Dec 2023 ** Still no message from Peter Vardy regarding this. They have been getting this same review removed from Trustpilot stating we are not real customers **

“3 WEEKS & 2 DAYS WITHOUT A CAR”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Koene152 on 18/12/2023

Its now been 3 weeks and 2 days without a vehicle due to a faulty vehicle being sold by the Motherwell Carz branch. With little to no communication from them and having to involve my finance company to go through the Consumer Act. I collected the car on 16th September, day after collecting, I had to contact them due to the engine management light being on and no oil in the car. I was informed that the garage at the branch is closed over the weekend and that I would be contacted on the Monday to have the car brought back in and checked over but in mean time buy own oil from Halfords and they would refund. 21st Sept – I had to drive to the dealership to see what was happening and hand receipt for oil into management. Whilst there the service team booked me in for the following week to have the car checked over, it would be the full day and no courtesy car available. 26th Sept - Car taken into their garage a week later left all day to be advised it needs the engine resistor fan replaced and a small oil leak repaired but just take away its fine to drive and they would call to get it booked in once parts arrived. Yet again no update from the garage and resulted in me writing a formal complaint to get it booked 20th Oct – Car booked in to get parts fitted, yet again no courtesy car as they were too busy. 23rd Nov - Car cut out on route to work in rush out unable to get started, after waiting 50 mins for recovery company it came back on and was advised by Peter Vardy recovery company that was provided for my first three months, car is running don't worry about it no need to go garage just keep eco mode on. 23rd Nov - drove to local shops, went in the shop came out and car yet again wouldn't start and engine warning light out. Yet again called Peter Vardy breakdown cover another company came out and advises starter motor had gone and they would get me home. Due to the shocking customer service recovered last time and you can never get anyone on the phone wrote a second formal complaint and requested they collected vehicle from my home and have repairs completed under warranty. 28th Nov - after multiple chases car was finally collected but not one update from dealership on what was going to happen and how long the car would be in the garage, as normal also no courtesy car! 30th Nov - update from the service manager after multiple email chases to say car needs new car battery which had been ordered that day and will be in stock the following day to be fitted and then taken out by technician to ensure car is fully fixed. 4th Dec - still no update on the vehicle and its newly fitted battery 5th December - contacted my finance company to get them involved and opened a case to get this issue resolved and moved on under the Consumer Act 8th December - Finance company provided an update that they had spoken to the dealership and the car now needs a starter motor and that it had been ordered that day to be fitted 10/12/2023 with the hope of returning the car that day 10th December - Finance company contacted me to see if I had heard anything from dealership which I had not and they were also having difficulties getting the dealership to answer the phone It is now the week before xmas and I have not had one update be that email or phone call from the garage since 30th November on what is happening with the car and when it is likely to be ready for collection. For a company that prides itself on its customer service and offers loyal customers rewards this is my 3rd vehicle from Peter Vardy and will definitely be the last. I have had to cancel multiple Christmas events that I had booked for my children over the last 3 weeks. Walking my children to school and childcare facilities to then get myself a taxi into work and repeating the process on the way home. Its now 6 days until Christmas Eve and I am now having to cancel and change plans made over the Christmas break as it looks like I will not be getting a courtesy car or even my car back prior to the Christmas break. All while I still have to pay for my finance & car insurance!

“Disgraceful ”

written by Michellefitz23 on 06/05/2023

Well if I could put zero for the rating I would, where to start is the question, my partner had his car written of few weeks ago, we seen a car on the Peter vardy site which was fine, so all ok until the day before we pick the car up which was like 180 mile from where we lived may I add, we had been promised a walk round video which he had to chase up but they had the cheek to chase him on the Friday asking for the deposit which was a large sum in our eyes,so we had to send the money before we even seen the video to the car, eventually got the video late Friday, went up on the Saturday to pick it up and was told they would be with us in 20 minutes which never happened 2 and a half hours later after telling us when we arrived a light had came on and a tyre had to be changed but we were told the day before the wheels had been refurbished which was also untrue, eventually got someone and got taken out to the car which was no way valeted was absolute bogging even if it was for 10 thousand pound car still expect it to be spotless even the seats where dirty the dashboard was a mess oh and 2 chips on the window that they said they didn't no what happened but on the mot certificates previously it was a advisory so was another false and the clutch pedal started to stick half way down while driving which is dangerous, alloy wheels scuffed and a dent on the roof on outside, my bf opted out the agreement wev had the car less than a week and been nothing but hassle and expect alot better from a car dealership got a cheek to advertise all over the Internet and radio cow boys in my eyes, keep getting fobbed off by the staff and were told someone would contact us but had to keep chasing them my partner phones today to ask when they are coming to pick the car up to be told the manager was on holiday till the Monday which he did not say this to my bf the day before just said he would contact him which was another tale, quick to take your money but don't want to give it back oh and while we were in the show room we were promised a tank of fuel and lunch which never materialised also no fuel in the car so had to drive about looking for a garage to get home. Nice car went to waste as they can't be bothered to maintain it but pass the buck to there customers defo wouldn't recommend and apparently getting picked up tomorrow but will believe it when I see it tbh with the reviews iv read about this company.

“100% dissatisfied”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Poole469 on 10/04/2023

I am 100% dissatisfied with the customer service that I received at Carz Peter Vardy, KIRKCALDY. The car I purchased came from another branch and was not delivered in the stated time frame. One particular representative made mistakes in the information she communicated with me. She also made mistakes in the paperwork. Invoices needed to be redone. The car was again delayed due to her mistakes with the paperwork. Once received, the car wasn’t even clean. After complaining, They took the car back to be valeted and it still didn’t get cleaned inside properly. For example I cleaned the cup holder myself with a wipe and it was full of dirt etc Moreover the car was low in engine oil and coolant water and to end the list the car needs alignment. Overall, the customer service, sales, communication, time management, administration, customer complaint handling, presentation of the car was all very low standard. It’s not what you expect when buying a top of the range Mercedes for 30k. Most of all, it took the fun and excitement out of buying a new car.

“AVOID ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kimgreig on 06/02/2023

Abysmal Service Where to start bear with me as this is a bit of a long story. I finally found the car I was looking for in Peter Vardy Motherwell branch and decided to pay a deposit for this online. I already had my finance in place as had been looking for a little while and initially the communication was reasonable. I opted to have the car delivered to my local branch and paid extra for this alongside extra to have my car that I was trading in transported back to Motherwell. The initial paperwork took only a few days and I was informed repeatedly all was well and the car was ready to go just waiting on transport this saga continued for 2 weeks with me phoning every few days to be told somebody would call back or the same that the car was ready to go and just waiting on transport then to find out transport had not been arranged at this point the advisor informed me that they could deliver it to my home address and we agreed a date and time. I received a call 30 minutes before it was due to arrive to be told actually the car needs an mot so would now be delivered later in the day. On delivery of the vehicle it appeared the advisor had brought a friend along on the journey which I was not overly concerned by but was annoyed that said friend had been showing a complete lack of respect for the car I had just paid £18,000 in terms of the passengers seat being fully reclined into a lying position and footprints around my window frame and dash. I was also informed at this time that one of the keys were broken but a replacement had been ordered which I am yet to receive (was literally hanging in 2 pieces) but it was okay as I could use the spare key when I tried to use this it didn’t work either ohh it just needs a battery (since changed the battery and guess what still doesn’t work). Other issues with car included no tyre inflation kit as described in add, diesel exhaust fluid and warning light on, air conditioning not working, squeak from brakes, no mot certificate supplied, eco start stop system not working and the supposed golden envelope event never mentioned or honoured throughout, this on top of the valet that never took it place. I decided to email a complaint about these issues in the first instance to allow them the opportunity to put matters right and was contacted swiftly by a person who I believe is a managing partner or complaints manager of some kind at this branch who apologised and requested the opportunity to put this right there were several subsequent conversations with him in which I had to continuously run through the faults again despite putting these in a detailed complaint email as well as a constant tone that he was somewhat doing me a favour by fixing the issues that the car should never have left the garage with. I requested to have the car fixed at Peter Vardy in Kirkcaldy as this was much closer than taking it back to Motherwell it has since been in to be assessed and unsurprisingly this branch had been informed that it was coming for a air conditioning recharge so still couldn’t get the issues right. It was found to have a large crack in the air conditioning condenser so much for there industry leading 114 point check. It is now 2 weeks since this was assessed and I have had no further contact regarding the remedial works required or the other points in my complaint. I have bought from Peter Vardy in Kirkcaldy before as well  and smaller independent garages and this is by far the worst service I have ever received and would definitely recommend avoiding. Further visit to Peter vardy in Kirkcaldy since last update and reply from Peter vardy and another big waste of my time. I dropped the car off at 0800 as discussed for repair of the air conditioning unit and key replacement. Eventually heard back from them again after 3 pm to advise that they recommended a course of action in order to repair the air conditioning unit although they claimed this would not be covered under warranty ( I didn’t want to make a claim through warranty only the functions the car was sold with to be working as they should when received especially given this is allegedly part of their industry leading checks) at this stage I declined to make any payments for the repair and asked at least how they had got on with replacing the key to be met with a reply of what was wrong with the key ?despite this being discussed on several occasions and being fixed at the time the car was in the garage. So yet again another day wasted car sitting at Peter vardy for no reason as it certainly wasn’t being fixed. Tried contacting head office via phone and surprise surprise they have failed to get back to me again or offer a suitable resolution.STILL WAITING ON A CALL BACK FROM HEAD OFFICE! I am now having to pay Range Rover £176 out of my own pocket to programme the spare key. This car was advertised with 2 working keys more like one hanging to bits and the other not programmed!

“Disgusting ”

written by JacksonVaughn237 on 27/01/2023

Absolute disgrace of a garage! These lot will pull out all the stops to get you to buy a piece of garbage car with issues and sell you warranties that are worth nothing. They also don’t give you any paperwork or history for your car and they obviously don’t do their “checks” prior to handing over. Apparently it’s my issue that THEY didn’t give me MY locking wheel nut! Also couldn’t get an obvious fault fixed (which according to forums is very common) as they “couldn’t find the problem”, even though I told them what it was prior!! LOL! made we wait weeks as I needed a courtesy car for work, then phoned the night before with a “you can’t have it”! I then waited 3hrs after having diagnosed the faults and been forced to take time off work to be told they can sort my locking wheel nut issue for a price! You can imagine my response, especially after sitting in servicing for hrs and listening to an inordinate amount of very unhappy customers! DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING! On your head be it!

“Sold us a faulty car and took no responsibility ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ayden75 on 24/01/2023

We have bought a car here and took it back 5 days later, as it was losing power unexpectedly and it was blowing fumes inside. We wanted to return it, only to be shouted at by a rude member of staff, who refused to give his name “, that “ This is not a supermarket! “ and that this will never happen. They said they can have a look at the car and return it the next day but we were left without a car for over a week, because they simply forgot to check it. I kept calling them and they didn’t know what had happend and why it wasn’t checked but then I spoke to someone in the Service Department a week in and he told me that the car wasn’t even booked in. Later we were told that no fault had been found, apart from a rubber seal that had now been replaced and that should sort out the fumes. We said we refuse to take the car back and drive it, as we consider it dangerous, giving the fact that it suddenly loses power while at speed, without any warning and especially because we have kids in the car all the time. They came a few hours later and dumped the car on our driveway, posted the keys through the letter box and took off quickly. I was in the house and heard the keys dropping through the letterbox and went straight to the door but they were gone. Of course, if a fault would have been admited by their garage, we would have been able to return the car and get our money back or get a car that is safe to drive, so obviously this hasn’t happened. We have sent a few emails to the complaints email address just to be told it will be passed on to the management at CARZ Aberdeen and not to hear anything back ever. So 3 months later and the car still has the same issues. On top of this, on the day we went in to see the car, our 14 month old daughter broke her leg on the slide that’s on their premises. No first aid was offered even though she was clearly inconsolable and no accident form was filled in for her, not even the following day, when we went in to pick up the car and she had a cast on. Most of the members of staff that were downstairs that day knew that she broke her leg on their slide the previous day but still, no form was filled in. So there is an obvious lack of procedures and training. There were no signs by the play area either and we are thinking now that this is actually not suitable for under 2’s and we are not sure if accidents have happend here before. We are not sure if our case has even made it to the Management team or not, since we haven’t got any response to our emails at all but the treatment we have got from CARZ Aberdeen has been distressing, unprofessional, disrespectful, inadequate, poor. Overall, this has been a regrettable experience for us and we wouldn’t recommend Peter Vardy Aberdeen to anyone.

“Full Service Mystery!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by HonestExperienceofmine on 04/12/2022

Full Service Mystery! By coincidence, I have tried on two occasions to get information on the same vehicle, 4 weeks apart. Never got past first base even though I am in the market to buy a car and Im willing to travel . First experience 8th Nov 22: I write a letter to Pater Vardy Carz- Motherwell, explaining my lacklustre experience. To whoever may not respond, I would like to inform you of why I am so disappointed with your company. After searching for a BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo via Auto Trader I came upon a car that met the criteria I was looking for. This was Sunday 6th Nov. I duly clicked the “Message the seller“ button on Auto Trader, completed a simple contact form and in the message box requested information on the Service History of the vehicle. A person texted me and asked who he was chatting with. I gave my name and explained I was wanting to see the Service History pertaining to the vehicle. He explained “ Thank you I don’t have access to the service history myself but I can certainly have the sales team contact you” I replied” yes get back to me tomorrow (Mon 7th Nov) I’m based just south of Newcastle but could come up to view the car sometime” He asked for best number and email to get back to me which I provided. He replied “perfect thank you! I will get the team in touch with you as soon as they can. “ I said “ ok sometime tomorrow will do” Texting ended shortly afterwards. I waited Monday for a call perhaps expecting a call around 10-11 am if you were busy. At almost 1 pm ( 12:49) I called yourselves to enquire about the service history. The woman who answered the phone sounded “rushed/ hurried” with not the most welcoming tone but not hostile either, it quite took me aback. I explained I was after the service history of the vehicle and had been informed someone would get back to me. She said she would look into it and replied that she had seen no message that I was to be contacted. She did say she would check the service history for me as I explained I was interested in the car. ( Had I had this information I would have driven straight up to view it.) ( In hindsight I now know this would have been a costly mistake) The woman got back to me and said she couldn’t access / find the service history, so I was beginning to think the car didn’t have one, as you have not put it up on your website. She did inform me though that the car was still for sale. So we’re almost at 1pm. She said she would get someone to call me back. By this point to be honest I was losing interest as there seemed to be either a lack of organisation (in finding the required info) or a lack of transparency (in now wanting to reveal it) as you have shown many details of the car but not the history. Who would buy a prestigious vehicle without it? At 15:39 I received a call back ( from a salesman?) asking what I was after… I explained I was wanting to see the service history of the aforementioned vehicle. He told me the car was sold, would I like info on another car? So, what a total waste of my time. 3rd DEC Im searching again for similar car- Car Wow ad comes up on google. I didn't realise it was the same car Id been told was sold 4 weeks ago. I also didn't notice it was Peter Vardy, just saw Car Wow. Requested Service History of the vehicle. Chat line couldn't get it. Message to to PV Team. I receive msg saying someone will call me, I explained I dont want a call just SERVICE HISTORY DETAILS. Well, I still dont have it, cant get past first base with Peter Vardy. Its still a FULL SERVICE MYSTERY!

“SHOCKING AFTER SALES”

written by Sean25 on 14/11/2022

DO NOT USE this branch it is shocking, they after sales is a total JOKE, the excuses they come up with is down right LIES, telling you the automatic cars have squeaky breaks when driving and reversing (aye no bother lol) damage ur wheel then say no it wasn't us, wait on them replacing a front windscreen... 4 months later very good NOT. Say they will call back .... guess what .... that right they didn't bother and I did give them 4 days extra ... Carry out work and don't update the records, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Thanks PETER VARDY you have ruined my trust in yous but this will.not go unnoticed. I paid them in cash and once they have the money they DO NOT CARE 1 single bit

“Worst company ever - selling death traps”

★☆☆☆☆

written by sjdulcey on 03/09/2022

My husband and I went into CARZ Perth over a week ago now and applied for a Ford CMax on HP Finance. J, who did the paperwork promised to keep in contact with us and after two days, we still hadn't heard anything, so we had to call her and ask for an update, this should of been our warning sign to leave straight away. The finance was accepted, we paid for the tax and a new insurance policy, setting us back over £100 and we were told we would get emailed all the information about the finance and the car from J later that day, this never happened and we had to call again to get this. Within minutes of taking the car away, we realised the fans for the air don't work. We took the car back and they said they would order the resistor for the fan and let us know when it had arrived so they could fit it (still have no idea if it's arrived as no one has bothered to call us). The next day we decided to drive to Ayrshire to see family, on the way there, the car came up with a red warning that the steering had gone, we lost all control of the car, nearly crashed and the car stopped. We waited over an hour for the AA to come and look at the car and they did a temporary fix on it. The following day, driving back to Perth, down the motorway, the car did it again, we were in fast moving traffic with our dog in the back and we lost all control of the vehicle again. It's safe to say at this point, we were beyond angry and upset. We waited over an hour again for a recovery truck, who wouldn't let our dog in the truck so we had the car removed and we were left stranded, in the dark on the side oft he road at 9:30pm. We were freezing and we had to wait over 1 hour 30 minutes for a taxi to arrive. We were cold, angry and our dog was petrified. Not to mention, my husband is a type 1 diabetic, this could of ended in a serious health emergency. If I had crashed the car and killed us, or even worse killed a family, how the hell would I have dealt with that!? and apparently your cars go under inspection before leaving the garage, I find that extremely hard to believe considering the fans weren't even working when we got in the car. The following day we contacted CARZ again, spoke to , a sales manager there and he filled us with apologies etc etc and said that it would be fixed. We told him we didn't want the Ford anymore and it needed to be removed from our property, as I write this email, the car still hasn't been picked up. We cancelled the policy on the Ford and lost all the money we paid on the insurance. We went to CARZ in Perth and spoke to face to face and explained we would like another car. We found a suitable Peugeot and he said that we could have it, no problems with the finance as acceptance lasts for 30 days, and we could pick the car up the following day. We agreed to proceed and we were told everything would be fine, after forcing the warranty on us, and apparently giving us a goodwill gesture of discounting the warranty, so we go home and purchase a new insurance policy for this Peugeot as we cannot drive it out of the garage without insurance. Two days goes past and we have heard nothing, so yet again we have to call to find out what's happened. We are told there's confusion with the finance company as they think this is a second application for finance from us, even though it's meant to be a swap. We received a call, stating that we may not be able to pick the car up yesterday (2/9/22) due to the finance problems like we had planned to at 5:30pm and it may be later. 5:30pm comes, we go to Peter Vardy and the car cannot be picked up, we are given a courtesy car, all well and good if we went to Peter Vardy to get a courtesy car, but we didn't, we went there to buy a new car for our family! Today, 3/9/22, we are told we cannot have the new Peugeot as the finance company wont accept it, so we either accept the faulty Ford and give it to them to repair or give the Ford back completely and have no car at all. As someone who lives with someone who has disabilities, having a car is a NEED not a WANT and it is vital we have a vehicle. Tell me, would you like to spend £9,000 on a car that broke down twice in the first 3 days?!?! I THINK NOT! It is disgusting that we are being forced into 'accepting' this Ford, when we were literally led down the garden path and told the Peugeot would be ours. We purchased another insurance policy for it, which we now have to cancel, that's another £75 down the drain! We are a young couple on a limited budget and so far in the past week we had forked out over £500 because of Peter Vardy! I am absolutely disgusted by the customer service we have received. NOT ONE PERSON bothered to call us regarding most of our issues. We have had to make every single call back to Peter Vardy Perth, what kind of company are you running?! Because of the appalling vehicle we were sold (Ford) we were left stranded on the side of the road for hours, with my dog and my husband who's a type 1 diabetic AND STILL the manager couldn't care less. The Ford is still outside my property, even if I wanted to keep it, no one has even bothered to come and look at it and fix it. You should be ashamed of how you treat your clients after a sale. I am now seeking compensation and I will take this complaint as high as possible and if it is not resolved satisfactorily, I will seek legal advice and also go to the media, this is not a threat by any means, just a statement of my intentions. I have photo evidence of us stranded, breakdown reports from the AA, receipts from the Insurance Policies and I will do everything in my power to ensure that this matter is resolved, a simple sorry isn't enough to fix this now, I have been patient enough.

“Ghost Cars that don't exist before upselling attempt”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kellernv93 on 07/08/2022

Aberdeen Jaguar Range Rover Branch experience. Listing and selling cars that don't exist to get you in the door. It's a long and horrendous experience so I'll keep it as short as possible. 17th June - make appointment to test drive 2017 Range Rover Evoque, 33000 miles at £19000. 18th June - arrive and car is nowhere to be seen. After confusion person serving me advises it must have been sold. After the hard sell offered an alternative from Carz that was more expensive and didn't contain any of the guarantees that comes with approved. 16th July 11am. Call in to see about test driving 2017 Range Rover Evoque, 43000 miles at £17500. Told vehicle was on site and appointment booked for 12pm. 16th July 12pm - arrive at Aberdeen Branch and car is not onsite and "doesn't exist". Eventually confirmed by managed that car was sold "3 months ago" and he acknowledges it is a "ghost listing". Offers to sort us out with a deal but cannot find an equivalent car. In communication and formal complaints that follow, Peter Vardy give it the it wasn't me and their solution is to offer an equivalent car (years, miles, spec etc all similar) for £5500 more. Seems this is a regular thing. Absolute breach of consumer protection from unfair trading regulations and trading standards have been informed. They have made no attempt to resolve the situation and now purchased elsewhere. Avoid the branch and the company altogether.

“Beware - only care about your money. Avoid Like the...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 157490 on 14/04/2022

Beware - you’re worse off with this company than other online car sales companies who at least are upfront about what they are. Peter Vardy agents made one promise after another, when none of these materialized, I tried to get my £99 deposit returned. (I have written evidence from initial sales person to state that it would be returned.) They lied time after time about this having been paid into my account. I’m now taking this to my bank and the Ombudsman, as I hate companies with zero integrity. If you do want to buy a car from this awful company, you’d better get a full AA or RAC check first - because if your car needs anything under guarantee, I’ll guarantee that you’ll have a very hard job getting them to do anything, or turn up when they say. I’ve previously bought from Arnold Clark, and although they’re not perfect, they’re a million times better than this lot. I finally got a car from a local individual company - the difference was like night and day. Before I paid he deposit, I checked reviews on another site: it was full of positive reviews naming the sales people. You’ve got to wonder about that, eh? I wonder what incentive they gave. I was also enticed by their statement about charity. After having dealings with this company, I’d find it hard to believe Peter Vardy does anything that doesn’t benefit himself. (From decades of observation, I believe that attitudes and ethos in a company generally comes from the top.) Save yourself a lot of stress and buy elsewhere.

STAY AWAY ......My wife and I bought her Citreon DS3 in May 21, hadn' had a problem. On 4th January 2022, my wife was at work, her car fully locked, with no keys in the ignition, The lights and window wipers tuned themselves. When she went to the car, opened it, and put the keys in the ignition. The lights and window wipers turned off, and the car failed to start. In accrdance with her warranty, she called Peter Vardy who arranged for collection of the car that day,but couldn't look at it until a week later, (As they were that busy, ) Again in accordance with the warranty, she asked for a courtesy car (Which he warranty states is guarenteed), but they said they didn't have one, but said as soon as one is available its hers. Anyway, the recovery company came to collect the car. Before he took it, he did some initial fault finding diagnosis, He checked the battery and even try to Jump start it with his leads but to no avail. He then did further diagnostics in accordance with his report which we hold. He clearly stated that there was nothing wrong with the battery, and in his 30 years of experience, it is either the electrics or alternantor that has gone. The following week, my wife received a call from Peter Vardy, stating that they know what the probelm is. They said its not electrical, it needs a new battery which is not covered by the warranty and will be a cost to her of £230. After my wife got off the phone, she then searched her office and found the Recovery comapnies report, which clearly states that the battery was good. So, after spending 5 hours trying to get through to them, the only way to contact them was to go down. When went down there, we told them what the reovery drivers report said, They refused to believe it, they said that the battery was completely dead and thats why the car wont start and again he battery is not part of the warranty, so we agreed to pay. (Even though we stated that it a professional had stated it wasn't the battery). The next day my wife got a call from Peter Vardy, they told her that they had changed the battery but its still not working, they have ran further tests, and indeed the problem is he fuse pannel from which she requires a new one at a cost of £130 (Again not part of the waranty) So then we argued, so why are we being charged for a brand new battery, even though the professionals report stated the battery was good, and now your saying the problem lies with the fuse pannel. Anyway, they then agreed t waiver the fuse pannel charge and fit a new one, but still getting charged for the battery (That the car didn't need). A week later my wife got a call saying that they had changed the fuse pannel but the car still isn't working, they dont have an electrical expert within the Peter Vardy organsiation, so they are going to have to obtain one from an external sauce, at a cost of £80 an hour, billed to us. So as you can see, even though the warranty covers electrics, they have tried to charge us for everything else, And every diagnostic they have assure us it is. Isn't. We are now nearly 7 weeks still without our car, any correspondence. And yes even though the warranty guarentees it, We still haven't got a courtesy car because "There are still none available". Now people if you can tell me this is the kind of proffessional, customer services and honesty you expect from a dealership. Then knock yourselves out, but just be prepared for the warranty to not cover anything, spend hours on the phone and not get a call back, be told wrong infomation again that will cost you to fix, and you have more chance of winning the lottery than getting a courtesy car. Like i said "Peter Vardy, six month old car, warranty wont cover anything, no courtesy car and 7 weeks in and still no word". Its absolutely disgusting that they are allowed to opeate in this Manor. So again, i cant stress enough , KEEP AWAY, KEEP YOUR MONEY, and stay HAPPY.

Stayawayfrompetervardy's Response to StayawayfromPeterVardy's Review

Written on: 08/02/2022

08/02/2022 Update, Well my faith has been restored, I received a call from a director/ manager. A true professional, he had our car returned to us all fixed without Charge. I'm still keeping my review at 1 star, because what he represents certainly isn't mirrored by the "Front of house service department ". But to his word, he sorted everything he said he would. So thankyou to him, shame the front of house can't take a leaf out of your book.

“BEWARE BEWARE. Chose to sell my car to Peter Vardy as...”

BEWARE BEWARE. Chose to sell my car to Peter Vardy as they offered a Free stay UK Hotel-Break for 2 however they omitted to tell me that you had to buy breakfast and evening meal for each person for each day and this had to be paid in advance. This is a sham offer and is not a free stay then and when brought to customer services at Peter Vardy they said well your hotel stay is free but you have to pay for breakfast and eveningh meal and the cost of this will vary depending on the hotel and we dont have to put that on the advert. OMG what!!!! When looked into this it was over £100 a day, in what world is that free??? Shame on you Peter Vardy for this misleading offer, well cant even call it an offer. So be warned if you are thinking about selling to them for their offers DO NOT. DO IT choose elsewhere.

“Absolute Disgrace ”

written by DominickGraham on 19/10/2021

Cannot believe this company can still be trading after all the reviews I’ve read and my personal experience matches all the one star reviews here. They tried to push their car out asap, proven legally, and the finance company ended up terminating the contract. Car had thousands of pounds of repair work required BEFORE leaving the showroom which they failed to do any of it. They also tried by switching allows on the car to cheap rubbish instead of actually refurbing the ones that came with the car. Utter disgrace and trading standards should get involved into their business practices. Seriously if you value your time and money, and generally getting what you buy AVOID PV Hillington.

“It just never ends”

There's so much to complain about it's almost funny. PV Perth Vauxhall went first, selling me a super car. But there was slippage in the order, at one point I'd overpaid by £1000 which it took weeks to get back, and when after several delays I turned up for the car they said it wasn't ready for me because they hadn't taxed it. I sat down and made it clear I wasn't leaving without it. They sold me a service package which I wouldn't have agreed to if they'd said it was for PV garages only - I only discovered that afterwards. I moved house, and approached PV Vaux Aberdeen for the first service to be told there was a recall, which they would deal with. The appointment was made for a couple of months later. The week before the appointment, and again the night before, they phoned to say they were missing a part, so they did only the service on the day. They suggested I take the car to PV Vaux Edinburgh for the recall. They said I had to take it somewhere that had a high voltage qualified technician. I booked it in to Edinb for a date 3 weeks later. On arriving I found they didn't have my paperwork. They assured me it wasn't lost, it just 'was not showing in their system' on the day's job list and showed up only when they input my reg number after I pointed out I had their confirmation email with me. They then told me it wasn't one recall but several, but the original one couldn't be done because they didn't have the same part either. Unlike Aberdeen, they hadn't tried to get in touch and warn me my trip would be partly in vain (but then of course I was - not lost- but not visible in the system). But they could do the other recall works (so why hadn't Aberdeen?) which didn't need the HV qualification. So, I logically asked, was it the job with the missing part that also needed the HV tech? No, actually, it didn't either. So none of the jobs did. At this point it occurred to me that my local (non PV) non-HV qualified Vaux garage could order the part and do the final repair. And then the horrible realisation took hold that I HADNT NEEDED TO USE PV FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE SERVICE I'M LOCKED INTO. I went to the beach and ate ice cream while writing this review. Buy a car from Vardy if you like. Use them for servicing if you like. But if I have been of any assistance, I like to be helpful.

“Terrible experience with Peter Vardy Hillington.”

written by MichaelMcF2020 on 03/10/2020

Very poor service from the staff. Car had not been cleaned and the additional paint treatment I had paid for had not been applied. Despite having 6 days to prepare the car it was not ready for collection. I was left waiting for 2 hours in the showroom (14/09/20). Despite this disappointing experience there has been little effort made to by Peter Vardy to resolve the situation. Despite asking for a refund for the paint treatment that wasn’t applied on 22/09/20 they have still not refunded the money. I have chased them up on several occasions where they either feign surprise that the money was not refunded, or they claim they are dealing with it as we speak. They have taken £299 from me. For a company that claims to be motivated by customer satisfaction the minimum standard that could be expected is that the car is ready at the agreed time, it has been cleaned and the services that were paid for were done. When this cant be done it would be reasonable to expect some effort to resolve the situation. I would not recommend buying a car from Peter Vardy. If you must either don’t hand over any money before you see the condition of the car or pay by credit card so the payment can be reversed. Once they have your money you get zero communication from them and they will make zero effort to fix what’s wrong.

“Why is Peter Vardy still trading?”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Gmhanders on 17/04/2020

I purchased a 16 plate Vauxhall Astra Design Sports Tourer 1.6 Diesel Design £8,150 with 26k miles from Peter Vardy Car Store, Hillington in November 2019. I pointed out several issues the day after collection including loose steering column. cracked windscreen, dangerously worn brakes creaking suspension to name just a few, which you would not expect from a reputable car dealership. The car has been back to the garage twice. Peter Vardy Car Store Hillington asked Peter Vardy Vauxhall, Edinburgh to undergo the repairs but the issues have still not been resolved. I am now experiencing new faults with the vehicle which is raising my suspicion as to the vehichles past history. Consumer Advice Scotland have provided me with three complaint templates in accordance with Consumer Rights Act 2015. There has been no response from all three letters even though I sent a copy to the CEO. This has been an ongoing battle over the last 5 months. Made numerous phone calls, every time nobody is willing to take ownership, promise a callback which never comes to fruition. There seems to be an inability to speak with the customer and their own dealerships. I took my previous car to Peter Vardy Vauxhall Edinburgh for a major service which cost £1500. It was a 62 plate Vauxhall Zafira 1.7 Design Diesel with 99,000 miles. I requested a cam belt replacement and was upsold a replacement water pump and auxiliary belt. Other than that the car was a very good runner. Picked my car up and the drive quality was completely different. The car was sluggish and after days I was getting an array of lights flashing on the dashboard and the car ground to a halt and would not start. The car had to be towed to the garage. Peter Vardy Vauxhall advised to repair the car would cost a further £3000. I was unable to pay this so they offered me a trade in of £1000. I have traced the car which has been bought by a small dealership in Cheshire which are selling the car for £3,750. I know car dealerships are required to make a profit but surely there is legislation for this extortion
