“Needed fixing after 3k miles”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 22/05/2017

Had to have the radiator changed after 3k miles. The RAC warranty was worthless as the rad wasn't covered! While in garage, the mechanic detected a whining noise from the oil filter. The filter was totally blocked and oil looked it hadn't been changed. The filter looked like it had done 20k miles! AZ Autos stamped service history before delivery but that's questionable. Their parts breakdown says the oil filter cast < £5 for a BMW 525i! So I'm now £550 out of pocket and AZ Autos are interested in paying up!!!

“Unprofessional, poor service, wasted my time”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MarshallMcConnell71 on 03/08/2016

They did the same to me. On the advert it stated the car was excellent condition with a full service history INCLUDING paperwork. I called to confirm that the car had paperwork and was told yes, full service history with all previous MOT certificates and service invoices. I arranged to view, travelling 150+ miles. Got there and the car was in good condition (not excellent), interior needed tidying up and when the owner turned up after 5 mins, he was more interested in what car I came in! After looking around the car I found a small oil leak (rocker cover gasket) and coolant was brown/murky, yet it had just passed their thorough pre-sale inspection? I asked to see the service book and it did NOT have a full service history. No evidence of coolant ever being changed, nor the brake fluid and missing 3 regular service stamps + the stamps that were in there all looked dodgy. I questioned the owner on this and he insisted it was a full service history and that I would not find better?! Really? I took the car for a test drive and then found the thermostat was stuck in the open position, therefore the car was not reaching optimum running temperature. We got back to the garage and asked to see the paperwork and it was at this point the owner told me the paperwork was not in his possession and that the previous owner would drop by at some point and hand it over to AZ Autos. I asked if I could speak to the previous owner by phone and was told they could not do this due to data protection?! Yes, my spider-sense was tingling. The car in question went from having full service history, to it MIGHT have full service history to NO service history as AZ Autos said the previous owner was a ''very private individual'' and didn't want his details to be known by the new owner. I've sold plenty of cars in my lifetime and never have I kept all the invoices when selling a car on. If he was so private, why did he sell the car to AZ Autos in the first place when he knew his name and address would be visible on the log-book? I then asked to see the so-called log-book (V5C registration certificate) and again, AZ Autos said they could not allow me to see it because, yes, you guessed it; data protection (because the previous owner's name and address details were on the front)! I asked: how do you expect someone to buy a car without a log-book?! I briefly mentioned that I drove 150+ miles to see the car with the cash to buy it and was told that they DO NOT ACCEPT CASH! Jesus Christ, why didn't they tell me this on the phone BEFORE I travelled? Time, fuel and money wasted.

Hello there, sorry to hear this bad experience. I am a bit surprised as all our cars come with a full service history, however I would be really interested in speaking to you in person regarding your visit as the owner of the business. We pride ourselves on consumers having confidence in us and it looks we have fallen short on your visit. Do you mind contacting me (David).

My car was towed to this garage after breaking down. And they took my car in despite being heavily booked when the breakdown service had said it was booked in and wasn't.. They sorted out the problem and did so promply saving me money. I will definately use this garage again

“Top service at an unbeatable price”

★★★★★

written by Hulky2006 on 17/11/2015

After realising our MOT was due for renewal in less than a week, I booked my car in at short notice at AZ Autos. The staff were very friendly and kept me up to date with progress. The car needed new brake pads, but we also took advantage of the service plus MOT option which saved us a quite a bit of money. We were promptly called once the work had been done, and based on rival quotes I am confident we could not have got a better deal. We will certainly be going back to AZ in the future!

“great staff and excellent customer service ”

written by SamFromHitchin on 17/11/2015

I went to 6 local car sales garages before buying my car from their garage in Gravely and they were definately the best in the area. Not just for the selection of cars but the price and the honest service I received. I have recommended them to a work colleague and they have also bought from them. The service and mot center in Hitchin is also good value for money. The staff are helpful and easy to talk to ( no engine jargon) for those of us that don't know much about cars. They are one of the cheapest mot's in town too. Don't bother going anywhere else.

Excellent people. You wont find better. While the car was a little cosmetically challenged it was easy to tidy. Mechanically excellent it has just flown through the mot. I live over 100 miles away and would/ will use them again

written by ThinkTomWade on 29/09/2015

I'm not a car expert by any stretch of the imagination, so whenever I hear strange noises or lights pop up on my dashboard, I always begin to panic. What I've really valued therefore is having a garage that I know will give be honest answers, always do their best to accommodate me and be prepared to go the extra mile to get my old car roadworthy again. This is a top business run by top people who I am always recommending to my friends - I wouldn't go anywhere else m.

written by mattflitton on 24/09/2015

I ahve had the pleasure of dealing with AZ Autos for some years and I would thoroughly recommend them to any friend, family....anyone to be fair. They offer a personable and friendly service that is missing from so many car dealers these days. Dealing with an established family concern is so refreshing. If you buy from here or just get your car serviced....you will not be disappointed.

I have purchased 2 cars from this garage. First was a Ford Focus and second was a mini. The service I got with this garage was amazing and the cars were also top notch for the price I paid. I also got warranty with both cars so if I ever had any problems (touch wood I haven't) I could bring them straight back to the garage. I'm very happy with AZ autos and have recommended them to many friends and family. Keep up the good work guys.

“Unprofessional and unethical”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Page202 on 08/09/2015

I called the garage up in the morning about a car for sale and  I was advised it had a service history and was offered a test drive if I came up to see it. I did a two hour journey to get there. When I inspected the car it was nothing as stated in the advert: “great looking car inside and out” / “truly super roadster” I then asked to look at the paperwork, there was no service book with any garage stamps, the only history was a few receipts. I then asked to test drive it, got in the car and it had absolutely no petrol at all. I advised  the person I dealt with who said there is nothing he can do as he is there alone and has no fuel cards. I asked to speak to the manager/owner and he said I couldn’t as the owner left his mobile at the garage and he doesn’t have any other contact details for him. The assistant then advised that he couldn’t even negotiate a deal without speaking to the owner first, but had no way to get hold of him. I told him on the phone in the morning that I would have a car to part exchange yet he was unable to process that or make the sale. I tried to call the owner on his mobile as per his business card, however the mobile on the desk just rang. I then asked the assistant to find the owners home number, he kept me there for about 10 minutes while he looked on the computer and then said he doesn’t have one. On top of all of this, the person I dealt with was extremely unsympathetic and never once did he apologise for anything. I also sent a text to the owner advising him of my experience and asking him why he left one person alone, who clearly is not able to make any deals. I have received no reply from himSo I did a four hour round trip on my weekend for nothing, incurred cost, wasted my time, and was extremely inconvenienced. I think it is extremely unprofessional and unfair to make someone travel all that way for nothing.

Hi there, I am extremely sorry to hear your experience. I did leave my mobile at work which I can only apologies about. However I did email you the next day asking if I could send a driver down to you with the car so you could test drive it, however I did not get a response. Apologies again and I hope you were able to find a car from another dealer. Best of wishes. David @ AZ Autos

You did not offer to send a driver with the car to me in your email.

Nonetheless, I would not do business with you after what I experienced, unfortunately your apologies do not make up for my loss of time/money.

Have used AZ Autos for many years, they are a family business and have a wonderful reputation locally and are known to be honest fair and reliable. Have had many cars from them going back some thirty years. They are always happy to refund or find another similar car if I find the vehicle doesn't suit. They have never let me down. Always at the end of the phone, reliable helpful and friendly.

I am a first time buyer and I can honestly say that the price for the used Hyundai i10 was very reasonable and the customer service was just fantastic. Everyone was friendly and very helpful. They taught me through all the controls and the paperwork was just easypeasy. I feel like I can go back to them if I had any questions about the vehicle. I would definitely recommend anyone using AZ autos as they really want to help people out. Thanks guys :)

“Purchase of used Jaguar Stype”

★★★★★

written by on 25/11/2013

In September 2013 I purchased a used Jaguar from AZ Autos. They were a very friendly, helpful and reasonable company to deal with. In carrying out their 50 point check they discovered a fault with the reversing sensors and were honest enough to inform me before the vehicle was collected. They then fixed the fault at their own expense - this involved replacing sensors. So far I have been very pleased with the car and would recommend them as a good company to do business with. “First Rate Service”

When it comes to tyres I must admit I haven't a clue and all I wanted was some sound advice and a set of decent quality moderately priced tyres for our family car. How refreshing to come across A-Z Autos. Got some great advice over the phone, popped the car in and collected a couple of hours later all done and dusted. Could I have got them cheaper elsewhere...possibly, but I think that when you find a garage that gives good quality service then saving a couple of quid is just not worth the effort. Highly recommended, thanks guys Keith
