I couldn't agree more with what you say, we have ended up cancelling our trip and losing the £700 + we paid rather than be held to ransom and lose even more to this company. They responded to our complaints that their attempt to take a large sum of money from our bank account without notice was within what trading standards find acceptable practice. I would be more than happy to join forces with any of the others here who have shared our experiences to try to get some action taken against this company.

Hired a motohome and confirmed fees. Next day we arrived to collect only to find out that these fees had doubled. Watch out for hidden charges. Upon our return everything was checked and confirmed no extra charges to be paid, however 3 weeks later we had an email charging for gas we used....funny that as we did not use any.... We hired a medium sized van during the Easter holidays. The holiday itself was great, the motorhome was really comfortable and my family and I all had a great time. We took out fully comprehensive insurance to avoid any problems should we have an accident. On our arrival the assistant told us a side window was cracked. It was a small crack on a small window. We had an absolutely amazing holiday, we took our 1 year old and hiring a motor home was the perfect way to travel, it's like a flitting every time we go anywhere with him so it's brilliant driving your house about with you. :) If you're touring about it's great being able to pack it up in the driveway and then you're set for the holiday, no unpacking and repacking everywhere you stop. The heating does not use the gas, my gas bottle was never switched on and I had heating on during a dreadful weeks weather. So that does not account for gas usage. We too ate out every day so had no requirement for the gas.

This company should be avoided at all costs. They insisted that our van was a 3 berth, when it was nothing more than a 2 berth with some dodgy cushions for a make-shift midget bed. They do not answer their phones and have taken five times what I originally agreed to pay for the hire in spurious charges. Have reported them to trading standards. (read more)

I agree. They have charged me six times as much as I should have paid now. I am getting very stressed about the whole thing. My husband has been extremely ill (funny enough since we rented the campervan) and in intensive care. He is now home, but needs lots of care, so I do not have the time to fight this thing.

We were 2 adults and a dog, and it took us a couple of days to get to the point where we weren't moving the dog every time we wanted to go to the toilet or open the fridge, but that was us not being used to it.We perfected the system by day 3. Hired a motorhome which was great but the charges are a complete ripoff. I have been charged an extra £10 plus £7.50 admin fee for insurance - I'm over 50 with a clean licence and no accidents !! I have now been charged after I handed the thing back for using 6kg of gas @ £5/kilo plus another £7.50 admin fee. I only had a 4 day hire and used the stove once. While the vehicle itself was ok (despite the fridge and oven not working), we had a terrible experience renting from Unbeatable - primarily because of the immense extra charges they apply. The original quote was £340 - but we ended up paying £945 (roughly 278% of the quoted price). Some of this was due to us driving more than the 100 mile per day allowance (each extra mile is charged at £1.15 plus VAT), but even if we had just taken the vehicle out of the depot and then turned around and... Wish I had read this before booking a van! Booked a van for next two weeks on a quote of £770.00 and today had an email to say final cost would be £2952.57. Also seem to have spent hours filling in a constant flow of on line forms. Cannot get any reply from helpline or booking line. Just hope there is a van waiting for us in Glasgow when we get there. Had good useful instruction, given instruction booklet with several telephone numbers to use if I was unsure how to use anything. Left my car in safe lockup area. This company has taken unauthorized payments from a credit card twice now. It was rectified once. We purchased insurance, and there was damage done to the caravan. i'm cancelling my booking.. It will be cheaper to lose my deposit than to pay all their fees I have just been told about after paying deposit. We thought the weekly rate was a good deal. Wrong. But then you have to add all the of little small fees and charges that they impose. You are better off skipping the camper van and staying at a 4* hotel. They make tons more on the fees than on the rental. We paid lots of extra fees when we rented. I'm a real customer just back from 7 days with this company-weather lousy but really comfortable and warm.......customer service impeccable, cleanliness extremely good and introductory price via Groupon very competitive. The booking was easy via E-document signing for hiring and insurance. The Chausson 04 is a ford chassis 2012 plate-easy to drive.
I can't believe this report is from a real customer?
