Unbeatable motor home made New Year special!

My family had a very positive experience hiring a motor home from Unbeatable Hire for a few days over New Year. We looked at several hire firms and chose Unbeatable Hire because the most recent online reviews are very favourable and they have several depots to collect from and Eastleigh, Southampton, is quite near. It was very straightforward to book and the system for checking out our driving licences, insurance and so on was efficient. We paid the deposit, watched the helpful online instruction videos, and looked forward to a post-Christmas motor home adventure.
When my son and I collected the motor home from Eastleigh on a freezing late December morning, the Unbeatable staff were friendly, professional and informative. It took around 20 minutes for them to show us around the motor home and explain how everything works. I've never driven a motor home before, but felt I knew what I was doing by the time I drove away from the depot.
You have to be careful driving a motor home, especially if. like me, you don't often drive a minibus or van. To manoeuvre into our driveway required care. Once parked up, the children were all very excited and set about moving teddies, books and toys into the bunk bed space, and converting the table into an extra bed. On the video this is made to look easy, but it was quite a puzzle to arrange all the cushions, seats and rests into a mattress. We drove down to the local beach and ate fish and chips at the reassembled table, before sleeping in our bunks with the heating very definitely on.
The next day we drove to a party in a cluttered surburban street, that required all our skill and several directors to back into a very cosy driveway. The spectacle attracted an audience of neighbours, passers-by and dogs, and by the end we felt like minor celebrities and it was a good way to get a New Year's party started.
After lots of adventure, the time to return the motor home came all too quickly. It was easy to tidy up the motorhome and clear our stuff back into the house, although my children were less eager to help with these jobs than they had been to put the stuff in. I filled up the diesel and there were no horror stories to report when I checked the vehicle back, with the staff genuinely interested in whether we had enjoyed ourselves. The deposit took 15 working days to return, which is a long time but is clearly stated in the initial hire agreement, and I did not face any surprising or hidden charges. I'd hire again from Unbeatable Hire without doubt, just maybe when the weather is a little warmer.
