I am absolutely shocked at the lack of customer service. Natwest took forever to get my business bank account set up in the first place (application lost etc), so had to constantly call the 'account manager' (who had no experience of being in a small business whatsoever) to find out what was going on and keep pushing and pushing them to get my custom!
6 weeks later after business account set up, received a letter (at my parents house where i have not lived for 12 years) saying that they were terminating my personal bank account. I have never, ever had a personal account with them so took the letter (which had an account number and sort code) into a branch. They tried to trace the account number, but had no record of it. Worrying.
Now, I have applied for a business credit card. They lost my first application, so I had to fill out another. They then found the original as well as the duplicate, but had to send the application back to my branch to authorize the limit. This was over 2 months ago, and whilst i do not actually need the credit card I am now more concerned about the cracks that things seem to fall into in their processes. They will not allow you to speak to anybody (the branches do not take incoming calls), they will not give you the name of anybody, just send a message for someone to call you back - they never do.
When I told them that I just wished in this case to shut the account down, they rather flippantly told me I just need to put it in writing.
I am absolutely not surprised that this is one of the banks that we as taxpayers had to bail out. I wouldn't trust them to run a tap let alone the accounts of the people supposedly trying to get the economy out of the mess it is in.
As soon as I can find an alternative I will be sacking this bunch of bozos off.
PS - wouldn't even get 1 star, but there isn't an option for less i don't think.
