I am just about to renew my service with Peninsula and googled the firm to see what competitors are out their. I have a fairly successful barbers shop and had previously used my family lawyer for all things legal. I found myself in a tribunal and three years ago spoke to a sales rep who promised to represent me if I took out a contract for retained services. I did that and queried the terms on offer? Basically I went with the fixed term for fixed costs. I am sorry some people aren't happy with their terms but I am. The term was clear and in large print as were the payments out of my account? Know have two shops and use the firm for advice on HR and H&S. I ring late at night and get through no problem, they write my letters and support me all the way. All I am saying is I know that I am tied in in the same way I am with my shop leases? It's up to me to get value for money.

It's not the terms I was unhappy with, we wanted it sorted and wanted the confidence of medium term cover. What I was unhappy with was the failure to deliver then the fifteen grand bill for all outstanding months NOW when it was challenged.

There was no ambiguity over the requirement, it was agreed and written but simply not delivered. Different staff, different promises, 9 months (of monthly payments) and no delivery. If this was an isolated story, maybe you could excuse it, but it isn't. Just because some contracts appear, for now at least, to be running smoothly - and good for you - but when you get multiple promises and no delivery, will that still be up to you to extract value?
