“Sunk by New Security Regime?”

Written on: 20/08/2011 by otamiJ (3 reviews written)

I have been a Nationwide Customer for many, many years with postal and now on-line accounts. OK, they are a bit quirky, but seemed sound. About 4 months ago I was advised to open a new Flex account to get a better rate of interest and duly went through the registration process. What could possibly go wrong?

After 4 months, it turns out that the new account had not been set-up and 'security updates' meant that I can no longer access my original account despite various emails, phone calls and password resets.

With the latest 'Passnumber' I was allowed into the system, only for it to crash after I had entered my security detials.

I know that I have 2 (or 3?) accounts but have no way of accessing them to check what is in there or if it still exists. What is worse, the crash after I have entered my security details could mean that my accout has beeen compromised but I have no way of knowing! Pretty scary stuff.

I am terminating my relationship with Nationwide next week for 'Security' reasons. What a shower.
