Virgin Media is undoubtedly the worst ISP that I have ever used. I have the 'L' package which I got about 2 years ago. Is supposed to provide 10Mb/s DL with no DL limits. Initially I was very happy with them. For the first year I was receiving a constant 17Mb/s DL with 2Mb/s UL, which for a very heavy user like me, is pretty good. In the past year, however, they have taken a turn for the worst.

At the moment, the very best speeds I receive are 6Mb/s; and that is very rare. My average speed has been about 3Mb/s DL during light browsing. As soon as I pass their 1.5GB "traffic management" limit, my speed drops to about about 1Mb/s DL. Sometimes, after a day of heavy usage, I only manage to get 0.16Mb/s DL, which is slower than the 3G on my phone, and totally unusable.

I have given up contacting VM about it. Their customer service is about as pleasant as smashing your head against a brick wall whilst being sexually assaulted by a hobo, and I seldom see any results. Often I will get a slight speed boost for a few days, before crashing and burning once again.

I am currently looking around for a new ISP, and would recommend anyone reading this to do the same.
