“very suspect practices”

Written on: 27/04/2012

I signed up my elderly neighbour for Plusnet broadband 5 days ago. This is the first time he has ever had a computer and hence the first time he has had broadband. During the sign-up process we have to obviously give contact details including name & phone number. Now, a few days later he has received two calls, on consecutive days, from 'indian sounding people' saying he has problems with his computer on one day, and he has been hacked on the other day. Both times he did the sensible thing and hung up on them, saying he didn't have a computer

His phone is ex-directory, he's never bought anything on-line so it's far too much of a coincidence. Plusnet say they never give/sell personal details, but as they are part of BT I guess that the details do go further afield. So anyone signing up with Plusnet, please bear this in mind.

This is what is known as a "coincidence". Indian sounding people ring my house every week if I'm at home during the day.

It's just VERY coincidental that it was the first time ever they had received a call concerning computer security, and Plusnet were the only company that KNEW they had a computer - there are coincidences and there are situations - this is the latter.

Have had the same type of calls and at the time was a BT customer. It's a coincidence . Now with plus net and think they are great. Had no dodgy calls since I left BT but that's probably another coincidence!
