“Efficient Switch Over. Cheaper and Faster than Sky!!!!!”

When Sky put their prices up again in Feb I decided to look for someone cheaper and seen Origin. For the same telephone and broadband package I would save over £10 a month. I placed the order and Origin cancelled Sky for me and reconnected me when Sky stopped their services within 24hrs. On the day of the switch over I hadn't received a router so I gave them a call and they were so apologetic and I received the router next morning via Parcel Force. Originally took well over 20 days to get me live on ADSL and I've been waiting 22 days to go live on fibre without ever being contacted. I've contacted them multiple times (left waiting on hold on average over 20 minutes each time) and have been told each time that they have no news on an upgrade date. I've been waiting so long that the BT website no longer says that fibre is available as it is over capacity. didnt run smoothly from the begining. right from my router being delivered, the wrong information was provided. setting it up was troublsom and took many calls/waiting time and configuring. hold time are between 20-40 minutes. not free from a mobile. i tried the live chat option- not always avaialble! and even if you can geret through they told me they can handle my complaint. book return call 16 days ago and still no one has contacted me dispite reminding them on day 3. inital price was… Read Full Review

I only wish I had checked the reviews before I signed up to Origin. At first the Broadband just didn't come on and over three phonecalls I was on the phone for about 3 hours. The first call I Was waiting 45 minutes for a reply. Then I had to manually change the set-up under instruction from the guy on the other end of the phone. To his credit he was a very nice man. So tired of waiting to get through to speak to someone. 25 minutes and no answer. And the music loop is so awful it given me a headache listening to it for so long. Generally the whole sign up experience has been awful. My wife is in tears, my children despondent. They are clearly a new company without the infrastructure to support a growing customer base. The worst broadband company in my experience. You can spend all day on the phone if you have the time. None of their departments have a clue on how to provide a good service, they just pass you around without sorting anything out. Waiting time on phone are a joke, I spent half hour for the first answer and A WHOLE HOUR FOR THE TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT before giving up on them. Initially they attempted to take over next-door's connection rather than the correct one. Then claimed there was no line in my property (there was, and it had a dial tone). We then had many arguments on the phone about putting a new line in (why? there was one already). Eventually they aggreed to send an engineer to check the existing line and if this was OK not to install or charge for a new line. i just left sky for origin i was paying £37.40 a month for broadband and any time calls. took a package with origin paid upfront for two years cost £300 £12.50 a month added anytime calls at £5.99 a month half the price of sky. phone went live at 10am morning of change over broadband online at 6pm overall an exceptional service for a fraction of the cost happy customer i would say… Read Full Review

Seriously disappointed. signed up in November, paid up front, everything great till 3 weeks in, my internet started to appear throttled. have tried tech support online, no response, phoned 40minute on hold, to be told the problem was hardware in my house. . . .it's not! I ordered a Broadband and phone package in December (18th) 2016. I was waiting ages for word but then they emailed me asking me to contact them. I was so impressed. BT wanted £50 to connect me to their broadband at my new address. Origin did it for free, super quick and no need for an engineer. I didn't even know who the previous supplier was as the house was previously empty. This did not make any difference. I checked on the BT website to see if there is working phone line to my new address (which there was). I recently moved and required broadband services. I signed up to Origin on 19/12/16, reading all small print which stated additional costs may be incurred should an new line need to be installed. This would be determined after an engineers visit. Unusually you are required to enter your debit card details, not account details to set up payments. Yep I agree, I was stupid enough to pay 12 months upfront on the 9th Dec and like you was told an engineer will come on 16th Jan and they wanted £49 for the privilege. With that I cancelled and loads of phone calls listening to there awful on hold music was told the same, basically your on the list. Had e mail today 17th Jan telling me it's processed and wait 5 to 7 days to clear. Funny it came out of my account immediately.
DONT PAY THEM ANYTHING. Normal companies bill you when your up and running.
Remember the saying BUY CHEAP PAY TWICE.

They couldn't even bother to get a router dispatched to me for my go live date. Of course, that meant no Internet for 6 days until one finally turned up (apparently they were out of stock!). I requested for a router to be sent three times over live chat. They just don't care and there is no urgency at all. If you call, you're holding for ages or you get cut off. Sadly I have had exactly the same experience. My line was taken over by Origin on Friday, this would not have happened if I had not chased this up. Router did not arrive on Friday as promised. After a number of calls when I was told that it was on the way and they did not know why it had not arrived. They now admit that they have not sent it but say will today (Monday) Why would a company behave this way? They show no respect for their customers! They are fast to collect your money but then couldn't care less what happens.

dont transfer to this company.When i transferred i had no broadband for a whole week.Hope i manage to finish this review before i am disconnected,just came back on after no broadband for 24 hours,continually being cut off.If you do have a problem you may get a person on the phone if you can wait 20 minutes or so.Had two different engineers call and the line checked umpteen times and told it is ok… Read Full Review

First of all they sent the router next day of activation date so i was out of internet for one day which I wasnt much bothered about. Speeds test tells me I'm receiving around 5-6 mbps. With sky I used to get from 12-14 mbps. The broadband constantly disconnects and takes ages to reconnect. No one seems to answer when you call support and no one replies on chat. Iv learnt my lesson not to try cheap companies. I have tried almost every company. The best ones are sky, talktalk and ee broadband… Read Full Review

I read all the reviews, yet despite many of the most recent being negative I ignored my own better judgment, took a risk and signed up to Origin. The equivalent monthly cost of standard broadband when paid in advance for a whole year is cheap, what could go wrong? After switching from bt, Origin have left me without internet access for over 2 weeks over Christmas. they hang up on you half way through a call and completely ignore live chat. after 2 routers failed to work for no apparent reason i booked an engineer for monday, sat in waiting all day only for him to arrive on tuesday when i was out, so now its all my fault and origin IS NOW LOOKING TO CHARGE ME EXTRA.
