I have previously had full breakdown cover (home start, european, relay etc) from AA and got fed up of the increasing price every year, my renewal was over £160. Started looking around on the net for other choices and came across Rescue my car (same cover as AA) and thought this is too cheap to be true. Bought the policy online without checking properly(my fault not the company's), and when the policy details arrived realised that I would have to pay a £40 excess each time I call them out. Phoned the company spoke to very friendly person who upgraded my policy so I wouldn't have to pay the excess(still over £100 less than the AA annual cover). Recently broke down (cold frosty morning just a couple of miles from home) phoned rescue my car and call answered in less than 1 minute, spoke to a very friendly woman who asked if anyone else was in the car with me. The AA never once asked me this whenever I called them out, and in this cold weather was a factor as I had my pensioner mum and 9 year old nephew in a freezing cold car with me. As soon as I put the phone down within a minute the mechanic phoned and asked what the problem was and heard whatever noises the car was making over the phone, very friendly guy. He arrived 10 minutes later luckily nothing too serious, got the car started and we were home within 40 minutes of breaking down. I was very apprehensive of this company given the cheap premiums but when called out were better than the AA the only breakdown company I ever used before rescue my car. Very friendly customer service, quick response time, friendly mechanic chatting away to my mum and nephew and overall very good service would recommend this company for someone looking for reliable breakdown cover.
