Firstly anyone who moans they had to pay a £40 excess when they broke down, this seemed very clear to me when I took out the policy. What do you expect from a policy that gives you change from twenty quid!

When I had the need to call them, Phone was answered promptly, dealt with efficiently by a nice bloke called Simon and help was on it's way.

A few minutes later received a text to tell me when they (third party recovery firm) would be there (40 minutes) they arrived within 20, diagnosed a clutch failure and then gave me the option of a tow to a garage or a tow home (30 miles). Got towed home as it was 5pm and the garages would have been closing up for the day.

Couldn't complain, the recovery would have cost me £200 without the policy so really did seem worth it when I was sat at the side of the road with the hazards on.

Had experience of the AA before and this was no better or worse, just a lot cheaper if you don't have the need to call them out very often.
