“Poor customer service”

I was fed up with Green Flag so swopped to QDOS based on price and reviews. I am unsure how they got such good reviews. I had a flat battery and the mechanic who came out to look at it (took an hour) didn't have spark plugs that were working so not sure the point of them coming to see me. Perhaps so they could claim they came out in the alotted time? They then had to go and get more spark plugs which took another hour. I complained to QDOS about this pretty basic error and received some sort of fob off letter saying they had investigated it and that was that. The other problem was the car was at my flat and I asked if the driver could call me when they arrived so I could wait in the flat. But they said not all drivers had phones so I had to wait by the car. This sounds ridiculous as how do QDOS communicate with the drivers if they don't have phones? Who doesn't have a phone? - I also complained about this and they wrote some fob off reply. I won't be renewing based on this poor response.

“1st class response”

Joined on 9 Sept. 2017. On 22 Sept. needed to call QDOS as my car was a 'non-starter' on my front path.Call to QDOS was dealt with courteously and efficiently. I was told engineer would attend within 60 or 90 minutes. Not sure what time had elapsed before he arrived, but it did not seem very long after my call Battery was totally discharged but QDOS man got engine running with his jump start charger. Thereafter he advised me to attend a local garage to arrange for dash display to be put right. Local garage did so without charge. A day which started badly ended up well- car was later used for local trip without any problem. Well impressed with QDOS service and would recommend to any-one looking for breakdown cover at a very reasonable price.

“Europe breakdown”

Terrible, they didn't provide me with road side assistance and than waited for around 17hr to get replacement car. They refuse to provide us (with 3small kids) even a bottle of water because it is not in their policy doc. They couldn't fix our car so they repatriated some 3 weeks after we returned from holiday. Very unpleasant expiriance. Nothing I could do about it as that is their standard contract which I accepted. Very sad.

“Rip off cancellation fees - AVOID!”

I bought their breakdown policy in October, 5 months later I enquired about cancelling the policy as I changed jobs to one that had a company car and sold the car it related to. They informed me that the cancellation fee is £15 plus another £7.50 admin fee, so I was entitled to no refund. Not sure how they can justify fees that total over half of what the policy cost in the first place! I would not recommend paying for an annual policy upfront with this company, the fees are a rip off!

“Avoid this shambles”

I joined and waited for my conformation email but it never arrived. I phone qdos but no one was available to assist. After many calls qdos said they had resent email but it never arrived, I checked spam filters etc so in the end I gave up and cancelled. As qdos failed to meet their side of our contract I objected to paying £7.50 administration cost and the UKs long distance selling regulations do not allow qdos to do this. Qdos failed to respond to letters of complaint and eventually my credit card company refunded the remainder of my money. I would not want my breakdown cover to be provided by a firm that do not answer telephone calls, refuse to accept U.K. Legislation and fail to respond to written letters of complaint, but that's just my choice.

“Rip Off!!!”

Do NOT go with this company. They are a shambles!! I took out cover with them opting for a discount and got a cheap quote but didn't realise I would only be allowed to call them ONCE a year!!! So I phoned the company one hour later to cancel and they charged me a £7.50 admin fee to cancel. Absolutely ridiculous!! You should not get charged anything if you cancel within 24 hours!! Completely mad!! A complete joke!!!

“Qdos Breakdown Brilliant”

I was unfortunate enough to require their services yesterday, when I was six hours away from home. The call centre, was great, very patient and understanding. He then recommended a local garage, who contacted me in 10 mins. Thy said a breakdown engineer would be with me in 15 mins, and he was! A very capable chap, who got me mobile very quickly. He was professional and keen to help. A brilliant service, that I would recommend to anyone.

“Shambles ”

Cheap for a reason. Passed from pillar to post. Not given adequate information. I broke down and had to spend 2 days in a hotel. Trying to make a claim to get costs back. No one sent me the claim form. 2 different email addresses and no one seems to be able to give me a postal address to send the paperwork. 3 phone calls and a livechat. Ridiculous.

I had a breakdown in Stuttgart, Germany during my europe tour in May 2016 ...the response was very good and fast done by the Qdos personnels thanks to the people I dealt with both were very kind and really helpful...i purchased the single trip breakdown cover for europe and i was thankful that my business trip in germany was saved by the immediate response and actions taken by Qdos. I will have a tour in europe again this coming July 2016...i have purchased another single trip breakdown cover again with Qdos because i really appreciate their excellent response and service. Thumbs up and please continue with your excellent service. 100% recommended.It is good value for money.

“Left me stranded on m62 ”

Left me stranded on m62 . Waited 2 1/2 hours for them to rescue me . Was told they were 5 mins away from me when I fact no one was coming out to us .complete waste of time.phoned me up while I was waiting to be rescued to ask how I thought of there service that night! Avoid at all cost.still waiting for explanation to why no one came to rescue us.

Qdos offers the same service as the 'big three' but at a fraction of the cost. I have had occasion twice to use their local services. The call centre staff were very helpful (though I was surprised they were in South Africa! - but local call charge only -they do have UK call centres also) mobile and landline numbers supplied - very helpful. The local firm that towed me in after apothole destroyed my tyre and wheel, were efficient and took me to the local dealer on a Sunday which I needed. The other call when I couldn't start on a frosty morning I had only just put down the phone when the knock came at the door! very impressive. Good to be able to save money on motoring costs these days.

“first time failure”

My car will not start this morning so for the first time since joining qdos 2 years ago I have TRIED IN VAIN to call them out. My car will not start and I need to get to my elderly mother who has just had a fall. I have tried the number on the card serveral times only to be told to dial a number only then to be told that this number is not recognised. So I then called the non fault accident number in the vain hope that they might help me ......only to be told that the number on the card  is not 'open' until 9am. So much for 24 hr cover. Really hoping that my 84 year old mum is ok. Can't wait to hear what rubbish excuse they come up with. Very unhappy customer.

We would like to thank you for alerting us to this problem, which meant we were able to quickly resolve it.

Once you spoke with our sales office on December 31st, we discovered that an intermittent fault on one of our breakdown assistance lines was preventing some customers from contacting our 24 hour call centre, and diverting their calls to a recorded message with an incorrect alternative contact number. We immediately reported this and the fault was corrected as soon as possible.

We also arranged for one of call centre staff to contact you straight away, and they sent a mechanic out to you. The mechanic was able to repair the breakdown at your address without the car needing to be taken to a garage. Following our subsequent telephone conversations, we understand you are happy with the service our telephone staff and recovery agent were able to provide once the problem with the phone line had been identified. If you do encounter any more problems, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

“TERRIBLE SERVICE - CHARGE £7.50 to change ADDRESS!”

Can't believe in this 21st century there are company to charge £7.50 for changing address, which can be done easily by anyone! I can update any address in most of the online portal myself within 5 seconds! This is ripping off customer for whatever reason! Will not use it again!

Please can you call us to discuss this further so we can see how we might be able to help. We’ve tried to find your policy so we can give you a call but we’ve been unable to trace you and we would really like to help if we can.

All insurance companies charge a fee for making an adjustment to the policy, which is usually between £15 and £30. We keep our administration fee of £7.50 as low as possible, but because amending all our systems with new address or vehicle details takes time, we can’t cut the fee altogether. We believe that we have the lowest adjustment fees, certainly in the breakdown sector.

“Stuffud up by QDOS - ZERO RATING”

My car needs assistance, having paid for the full QDOS services, I give them a call to find my new car isn't covered. Why? Because I hadn't told them I'd changed it 3 weeks previously. They asked for £80 - They've already been paid for this service!! I am incensed! It then took them over an hour to get to me. This as appalling service. No grace, no compassion, no good! 'Mr 'Job's Worth'

Excellent Service following our breakdown in France only an hour from the Ferry Terminal.Nothing was too much trouble everything arranged which took the pressure off us at a very difficult time.They kept in touch with us and let us know what was going on, on a regular basis and when we arrived back in England concerning the repatriation of the Car. We can only praise the staff concerned, who must have had other people to deal with other than ourselves.

The service that I received was superb even though the speed of the garage dealing with my repair was not exactly lightning fast. However, when dealing with your operator, nothing was a problem and I had no problem in getting through every time I needed to discuss any part of my claim. The aftercare service was also exemplary and my expenses were paid within a week. Altogether an excellent service and one I will be recommending to my family, friends and work colleagues. Regards.

First time I have had to make a claim while ravelling abroad. Fast efficient and very friendly service. Accommodating and ongoing contact and support, providing options and information. Did all that they said, simply and effectively. No problems - car picked up quickly by French operator and paid for, hire car booked and paid for, taxi on arrival in UK booked and paid for, car repatriated (could be fixed in France) within the stated 3 weeks, and delivered where we chose (our local garage) in good condition. Really impressed, thoroughly recommended.

I bought my cover with QDOS as I was disappointed with the AA who kept putting my policy up every year without even using them. QDOS have given me the same cover for half the price. I was a bit nervy of having to use QDOS as I didn't know what to expect , but I had to call them out on Monday and they was with me within the hour as promised with no issues. I would definitely recommend them as the staff I spoke to over the phone gave me the confidence that I would be getting help within the hour. My car was recovered from my home to the garage I normally use without issue. Very pleased with this company

I had conversations with two or three people at Qdos. While I can't remember their names, I would say that I received absolutely brilliant service. Each one was very well informed, and put customer service at top priority. In quite a stressful situation, it was genuinely relieving to know that I was in good hands. I liked the follow-up call to make sure the tow truck had arrived. Thanks to everyone involved. 10/10

“Breakdown in Austria”

My motorbike broke down on the final day of a European trip this summer. The response from the QDOS team was fantastic and immediately reduced the stress of the situation. There were no garages open over the weekend so arrangements were made to repatriate me and the bike separately. I was driven from Austria to Munich for a flight to London, where a hire car was waiting for me. Within hours of calling I had all reservations and details in hand and had a stress free journey home. Bike arrived two weeks later. Couldn't be happier and have already recommended to my friends.
