Called greenflag out just after lunch 12.10 as had a flat tyre and couldn't loosen 2 of the nuts, I got straight through to them on the phone within a minute which was good. I then got a call from Mansfield recovery who they use (they don't have their own fleet - If you see the green flag recovery trucks these are owned by one of the 5 companies they use, and they said they were waiting for the all clear for the mechanic to come of another job before he would come to me, I asked for an eta the girl couldn't give me one or promise be there withan hour.

So I called greenflag back to say I was not happy and for them to sort it, for me to be told they will be at least 2 hours and can you get someone else to take you home if your local! I had a 3 and a 4 year old in the car at the time which they were aware of but didn't seem care!

anyway I ended up getting a lift from a good lady who stopped, luckily she had 2 car seats for my boys and I was only 2 miles away from home.

Anyway greenflag turned up at my house 2 and a half hours after I logged the initial call to take me to wear my car was. All in all it took over 3 and a half hours to get my car back. ruined my Saturday.

Apparently speaking to the mechanic regardless when you call, vunerable breakdowns such as motorway breakdowns or in a dangerous place will always take priority and if you are in a safe location you will be put to the back of the queue.

My view if if they are busy they should have the option to use other contractors to forfil their promises of they will be there within the hour, but I suspect this is an additional cost so that's why they don't do it.

On a plus note on the back of my complaint they will be sending me £40 cheque as compensation, so quick resolution.

Over the last 2 years of calling them out 1st time they took an hour and a half, 2nd time I had another flat tyre and after they didn't turn up for an hour I changed it myself and went, and when my wife called them broken down at a roundabout they took an hour to come out sent a little van and had to be recovered but because she had my 2 young boys (which they were told on the call they took another hour and a half to come out to recover) Overall I have 4 consecutive uses of this company - ALL OF WHICH HAVE BEEN VERY DISAPPOINTING, and have now lost all confidence in this company but I suppose you pay what you get for! I will be going with AA or RAC next time for piece of mind as in my view cannot be much worse!

follow up. I have a given 3 stars for customer service, for quick resolutions for compensation on the same day. Don't have the time to be chasing them and writing letters etc so fair play to them there, but will not be renewing with these.
