I had to ring Gem after my car conked out in a car park. Upon ringing them, there was no menu system and no waiting, it was straight through to an operator, who was friendly and helpful. Despite it not being an emergency, it was only 35 minutes until the mechanic turned up. He couldn't fix it on the spot, but he identified the problem. He phoned a local garage to make sure they could fix it and asked them to order the part in advance. He then rang up for a car transporter and left.
Gem rang up to give an estimate of the transporter's arrival time, and rang again when it was due, to make sure it had arrived 25 minutes later. He loaded my car onto the back and drove us to the garage. It took another hour for the part to turn up and 30 minutes for the garage to fit it and test the car.
In total it was just under 4 hours from the car not starting to having it back on the road.
