Having just had my car serviced and MoTed, I decided to drive to Crawely to see my grandchildren. The fuel pump packed up halfway leaving mt stranded. I investigated myself but concluded that it was beyond me on the roadside so phoned GEM.
Having taken all the details, GEM dispatched a breakdown service to my location but advised that the services were very busy and would be at least an hour. After the hour was up, I called only to find that the current provider of the breakdown service was too busy so another was being sent with a further delay. Gem rang back several times after the first hour to confirm that I was still OK.
What was annoying during my 4 hour wait for the breakdown recovery vehicle, was the number of recovery vehicles passing carrying 'bangers' to the local oval track. Clearly these companies are not available for work on racedays.
However, once the vehicle from HRS arrived, all went to plan at last. My car was delivered to my local garage, luckily still having someone there despite it now being after 7 in the evening.
Lack of resources in the field was the biggest problem rather than the service itself.
