JimShos's review of AA Breakdown Cover

“AA and what their mechanics think of us.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JimShos on 17/11/2014

Having been a member for a good few years I decided to cancel. I called their office and explained that I was cancelling and after a bit of back and forth with the call taker (who was very nice) they accepted my decision. In the following moth I received various calls from them asking if I would reconsider, this is to be expected nowadays but as I had already signed with another firm my decision was final and I thought that was the end of the story.

Well no it wasnt. I received my monthly statement and on checking it i found that the AA had taken a yearly membership fee. When I called them they said that they had no record of a cancellation and as I had paid upfront for a year they would not refund my money. I did call them umpteen times to try and resolve this but they have dug in deep and simply refuse any refunds.
Now in my internet search to find others in my situation I came across two AA Staff forums. It is very interesting to read the complete lack of respect that The AA staff have on their members. One even commented that he tries to sell parts before even fixing the car.

Sorry to hear about this. Although we couldn't trace your record of cancellation, we should just have issued a refund. Please could you contact us with your membership number and we will arrange it.
