Im not normally one to review services on the internet but AA have left me with a bad taste in my mouth!

I took out their breakdown and repair cover to my BMW 318i in January foolishly thinking they would cover my should anything happen to my baby, fast forward to last Thursday on my drive home, the engine begins to rattle and the engine light appears on the dash.

I pull up and call up the AA who turn up after an hour and tell me I have an issue with my timing chain. The engineer decides to recomend a Networked garage to get the work done at, which turned out to be a Halfords garage?!?, but again he tells me they are fantastic and working bmw's and timing chains all the time (Clearly on some sort of comission). When I went to hand they keys in I was told they don't work on timing chains and I had to get the AA out again to tow it to a bmw garage, and they still had the nerve to charge me £53 to tow me again.

They asked for my permission for the gargage to inspect the fault which was at my cost, The work was completed, new timing chain, tensioners etc, only to then be told they will not cover me because apparently the timing chain is a wear and tear part???? I have spoken to BMW who have advised me the timing chains should normally last the life of the car.

AA also suggested I have been driving it around with the rattle which is a complete and utter lie! I thought it was about to explode when it happened, why would I drive it like that?

I have put in a complaint with the AA and I am currently awaiting a response.

After this experiance of being left hanging high and dry, I would suggest anyone who is thinking of taking out this cover, to reconsider as they will find a reason to wriggle out of paying.

I would rate them no stars but 1 is the lowest I can pick.

This is a very similar story to what I have been though today with the AA! A week after my car broke down and all the chasing up has been from my side! The guy who handled my issue not only implied I knew about the fault but also made me feel like a liar! An independent inspector blamed poor servicing and maintenence even though the car has full main dealer history! It seems profit has taken over the AA and they are trying to wriggle out of their commitments!! Poor poor service!
