“WORST BOILER EVER”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 04/11/2013

Worcester Bosch GREENSTAR 30CDi System. Fitted 6 years ago. 5 year guarantee....waste of time. Gas installer called out to the boiler numerous times in the 5 years. Just before expiry of guarantee Worcester Engineer called to look at the "electronic" bits of the boiler and said that there would be problems possibly. After warranty period took out Corgi HomePlan cover. Brilliant. In the first 6 months of their service agreement, they have sent out four sets of plumbers who changed various valves on the system, changed electrical wiring, etc. and eventually got the boiler to work. NOw totally hacked off with the boiler not working again (-1 temp last night and -2 expected tonight) Worcester best callout two days time. Customer care absolutely rubbish. Sell boilers don't bother about the back up. Previous boiler was a Stelrad Mexico 40 years old and NEVER broke down once.
Recommendation - don't buy Worcester Bosch. Perthshire

I have replaced my Ideal ISA boiler used for 8years with worchester 29cdi, in July 2013. Sadly I have seen increase in cost of gas usage sometime £5 a day I have called support but they couldn't give me any answer to this am very worried, i hope that when they visit me next 29th they will find the problem. I used Ideal for 8years and very cost effective.
Boiler is fitted with thermostat and doesn’t come on until 21:00 – 5:00.

Night mare!!!!

Glad and also saddened to hear that your gas consumption is also up. I thought it was just my imagination.
thanks for your comments

Are you experiencing same problem on same boiler?
please give me more info so I know what to do?
I don't have much money, so I wanted to save money on energy I end up waiting more. Boiler is not cheap either.

I quite agree. They're useless as a manufacturer, and worse still for after sales service.
My highly recommended "Greenstar" was around £4,000, is three years old and yesterday sprang a leak out of its automatic air vent, ruining the flooring and leaving us with no hot water for four days until a replacement part (£7.50) arrives next week.
called support line and met with total indifference and robotic nonchalance;
"sorry, sir, it's out of warranty"
"yes but it's only 3 years old.. clearly a faulty internal part"
"sorry, sir, it's out of warranty"
"yes, but this is poor manufacture and the thing is now useless due to your poor quality control"
"sorry, sir, it's out of warranty"
"but this can't be due to user error, or even boiler age...."
"sorry, sir, it's out of warranty... we CAN sell you a £25.00 per month after care package though...."

..... OMG! the previous boiler may have been a couple of % less "fuel efficient" but lasted for 20 years with no leaks whatsoever.
What happened to product quality control? has no-one ever tested a £4,000 boiler BEFORE it's been placed on the market?

All of my "fuel savings" are now wiped out by replacement flooring, plumbing costs, etc....

Thanks W.-B. for the poorest after sales service and the worst product manufacture I've ever experienced.
I always wondered just how poor a service one can expect in the UK, and now Iv'e found it.... My search is over!
This product cost way too much, is clearly poorly made and poorly backed up by an uncaring indifferent company who obviously don't care about customers or reputation.

One last point: if YOUR plumber suggests a W.B. money pit as a part of your heating system, I strongly suggest you not only not buy a W.B. product, but also change your plumber, because he's obviously got about as much idea about quality as they have.
None.
