I was advised to buy this combi boiler nearly 5 years ago , alternative was Valliant. It is a powerful efficient boiler- had a new bathroom installed and the bathroom installer said it was producing too much hot water!, -produces good hot water . After 4 years and 10 months tenants are getting E5 error message. Intermittent fault. Called Rehema re 5 year warranty and they say its only for parts£300+ charge for call out to fit E5 kit. Rehema (was Broag) have now been taken over by Baxi , who are still selling the same boiler under Baxi name , so its not discontinued. Wish I had chosen Valliant. Not sure if E5 kit will fix problem.

The E5 Error was a failure of the ignition module on my Avanta 39C. The same module passes the ionisation current to the controller.
The part was around £30 and it's a plug in part fitted within 5 minutes. People assume that because the boiler fires up that the ignition module is not at fault.
Another cause can be the main burner gasket that was originally a fireproof rope, It has been redesigned as a graphite gasket. Regular servicing should eliminate the burner gasket issue as they form part of the service kit.
