“New logic combo + 35 fitted 10 months ago. RUBBISH”

Written on: 03/07/2017 by LeonDaugherty100 (1 review written)

Had a new central heating system fitted with New Logic + Combi 35 boiler. Lasted 10 months! Phoned Ideal fitter came out today and replaced gas switch and other parts. Still not working. Does not carry PCB (circuit board) so has to come back when he has one. Any boiler that breaks down after 10 months is a HEAP OF RUBBISH. DO NOT BUY IDEAL BOILERS. I wished I had bought Valliant or Worcester not the RUBBISH system I now have. I can't fault the fitter, but surely they should carry PCB as… Read Full Review

“Heat Exchanger Failure”

Written on: 31/03/2017 by HomerjRed66666 (1 review written)

Had the boiler installed 2 years 4 months and it started leaking. Ideal want £289.00 to replace. The old boiler was 14 years old and never missed a beat. Thought the Ideal boilers were supposed to be top quality. Think not, can't see this boiler lasting 14 years. What a waste of £900.00 Spoke to Ideal customer services and wouldn't move on reducing rate as the boiler is out of warranty… Read Full Review

“Heat exchangers not fit for purpose. ”

Written on: 12/02/2017 by GinAndPlatonic (1 review written)

The heat exchanger spplit after four years and leaked water, which necessitated topping up water pressure daily until IDEAL replaced it costing me £275. It now heats water well but there is a constant, loud and annoying clicking noise coming from ( I can only guess) the new heat exchanger.I do not recommend these boilers at all. Also the pressure gauge is almost totally out of sight underneath the boiler. You have to bend and look up from underneath to view it. Go figure??… Read Full Review

“Lasted approximately 5 months”

Written on: 30/11/2016

We moved into a new build property in July 2016, and the boiler lasted all of 5 months before it decided to not let us have central heating. New PCB required (apparently), with little to no time-frame given as to when this will be sorted, or degree of urgency shown at any stage so far, not like it's -9 degrees at night or anything at the moment... Water takes ages to heat up properly too, wouldn't have picked out of choice… Read Full Review

“Ensure you have the guarantee in place and a warrenty...”

Written on: 28/09/2016 by gerryurch (2 reviews written)

Fine for the first 5 years, other than very susceptible to minor leaks from rad's which close the system down. Sixth year has been a nightmare. 1) boiler started to backfire like an old banger when firing up. 2) sprang a leak from inside the boiler 3) The heat exchanger went! Complained to Ideal but they weren't interested. Now have to pay about £300 to get it repaired via them! This boiler has cost me £500 this year - less than a year out of guarantee. One last gripe - the water pressure… Read Full Review

Ginandplatonic's Response to gerryurch's Review

I agree entirely about the pressure gauge. Just stupid..also the heat ehchanger split on ours after four years. I thought it had a five year guarantee...no..it was two. I had to pay £275 to get it replaced. I now have a loud continuous clicking noise when the boiler is heating radiator water.. I have been told if it is the new heat exchanger then they will replace but only refund me half of the original cost to fix in the first place. I will not be recommending IDEAL to anyone.

Had the boiler fitted 3 years ago and from day one minor problems. Lack of hot water then having to top up the pressure every couple of days.Engineer called and replaced just about everything inside cover but said the problem was in the central heating system. Up came all the floor boards (underfloor heating) and pressure tested the heating system NO LEAKS!!!! engineer called again still unable to find the problem engineer convinced the heating system was at fault and was unable to repair/fix… Read Full Review

Read up about faulty heat exchangers ! it might be the problem. The water leaks out intio the condensate pipe and that is why engineers cannot find where the leak is coming from..Rubbish boiler.
I hope you have got yours sorted.

“Seriously - don't bother. ”

Written on: 23/04/2016 by JaimeClifton (2 reviews written)

I've fitted many over the last 6 years, so have a lot of experience over the long term - I've now stopped fitting them due to Ideals poor back up on warrantee call outs and the boilers continuing problems. Ideal take extended amounts of time to get to customers who've boilers have gone down - up to a week in winter. Their engineers are VERY particular about the installs as well - unless EVERYTHING is perfect they will write a safety notice to the customer - even on tiny NCS issues - then… Read Full Review

“worst ever boiler worst service from Ideal AVOID at...”

Written on: 11/02/2016 by oap1935 (1 review written)

Had this boiler fitted and I repeated had to add pressure to the filling loop everyday, Drops from 2 bar to zero in 24 hours. I have done this for 5 years now and also have to add inhibitor to the system every year to stop corrosion. I reported the fault to Ideal but they did nothing. I have now found out that the heat engine has a manufacturing fault in it which causes the boiler to leak pressure. I feel completely ripped off. I can't afford a new boiler. I want Ideal to publicaly admit and… Read Full Review

“Total nightmare”

Written on: 23/01/2016

I would not recommend this boiler to anyone who actually wants a boiler that works. As for customer care they are only reading from a card as it doesn't matter what you phone about it's the same reply . Boiler constantly requires to have pressure topped up and after only two years the circuit board failed. If you have money to waste this would suit. Total waste of money. I feel sorry for pensioners who have been given these boilers on the government scheme as it is just money money money. Most… Read Full Review

“Ideal Logic 30 never again.”

Written on: 21/09/2015 by Emilee80 (1 review written)

I had one of these fitted in 2012 by a company I have used before and would use again. As part of a complete heating system I failed to research the make having had Baxi and Potterton in previous houses. When I received the quote I queried why the company were using Ideal Logic 30 instead of Baxi and they told me Ideal were a really good make and I would be pleased. Well, it was surprisingly noisy, but seemed OK other than that. The first snow came two weeks after fitting and it packed up… Read Full Review

“Great boiler and fantastic aftercare!”

Written on: 13/05/2015 by Zara16 (1 review written)

Had this boiler installed 2 years ago and had no major problems so far hot water on demand and heat the whole house in less than 30 mins (3 bed mid terrace). Minor problem started a few weeks ago in that my radiators would start to heat when running a bath so rang my plumber who came out and explained that the diverter valve had jammed. He gave me the number for ideal rang them up as warrantee is still active. Got through to a very helpful lady who booked an engineer to call a few days later. I… Read Full Review

“Heat exchanger leak after 18 months”

Written on: 08/05/2015 by Holden404 (1 review written)

Rubbish boiler. The heat exchanger broke after only 18 months. Unfortunately this problem wasn't detected for another 6 months - it was thought the boiler was ok and the water pressure was dropping due to a leak somewhere in the house pipework - by which time the 2 year warranty was out of date. Now need to spend a couple of thousand on buying and installing a brand new boiler (of a different brand, of course!)… Read Full Review

The main heat exchangers are rubbish (they can split after a short time) and leak water into the condensate pipe. That is why their engineers cannot find the leaks..

“Looks nice. Shame about everything else.”

Written on: 19/04/2015 by andythebrave (6 reviews written)

We had one installed last summer under one of the then current 'green' schemes. From the off it was clear that the hot water supply was simply not up to the job; well over a minute to get hot water out of a running tap is simply not good enough. Still, we put up with it up 'til now as thought we were saving on gas consumption. It turns out that that isn't the case and our water consumption has risen considerably. The final straw came when it refused to give any hot water at all. Probably a stuck… Read Full Review
