Introduction To Bill Bryson

Famous for his humorous and easy to read style, American author Bill Bryson has written numerous books on travel, language and science. Despite being American, he has spent most of his professional life living in the United Kingdom and worked as a journalist and sub editor on sections of both The Times and The Independent, before writing much acclaimed travel books Notes from a Small Country (voted by BBC Radio 4 listeners as the book that best represents England), Down Under, and scientific history book, A Short History of Everything. In 2006, Bryson was awarded an honorary OBE for his contribution to literature the James Joyce Award of the Literary and Historical Society of University College Dublin in 2007.
