Funnily written but I think there were some false statements about Switzerland. I can recommend this book to everybody who likes to laugh... :-)

I have been to most of the places that Bill traveled to and besides being funny...he was really accurate!

Delightful detail, biography, humor, literary criticism, linguistics, and history presented in Bill Bryson's inimitable style.

Bill Bryson's Notes from a Small Island seems to be the same. Every chapter goes on about how every village he's ever been to has changed and become the same.I will never read it again.

I just wish he had come across "Shakespeare's Ghost Writers' by George & Bernard Winchcombe which has afforded me almost as much amusement - John Williams is Shakespeare!
