So I needed to transfer a balance from a First Direct visa which was charging high rates for repayment... I check out with Martin Lewis money saving supermarket and there is the Barclaycard Platinum deal, 22months 0% deal, it's top of the tree for all the things I need and want. I apply. It took a while but eventually a letter came through at the same time as the card and the activation info. I'm asked to call an0844 number to speak with a representative. The card is thus activated and I enquire about the transfer balance only to be told by Mark that there had been an administration error and they had not underwritten the full amount I needed to transfer over. My limit was a poxy £1000 and then he would promise to get the rest done by their underwriters and the complete amount would be cleared from my previous card. This was logged on 30th May 2012.....
I open my First Direct statement to see to my horror £67.29 charges on my account as the balance hadn't been touched no transfer of £1000 nothing.
I phoned Barclaycard customer services on 5th July 2012 and I question the representative, they confirm all I knew already and then ask me to log a complaint. I do, after waiting for a ridiculously lengthy time whilst he typed up the claim he then transferred me to his supervisor for my complaint to be handled. I held on my phone 0844 number for 25 minutes listening to dreadful music and my efforts were lost. I never got through to a person. I called back and asked to be put straight through to a supervisor. I waited again.. And still nobody came to my call. There is no excuse no reasoning and simply nothing I can do about this situation. I applied for a top-rated card and it's absolutely shocking what level of service supports the Barclaycard and the Barclays bank. I want Barclaycard to call me and be accountable. What hope have I got???
