I'm 53 and live in Michigan where you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a microbrewery. Bell's, Founders, Dark Horse, Perrin, Atwater, you name it. Like many other states Michigan has a number of outstanding new breweries offering all manner of brewing styles.
I'm 53 and therefore not a hipster but I got drawn into the whole craft beer craze and most recently started drinking a bunch of IPAs and other craft beer styles. But after months of drinking the stuff, mostly on tap, my stomach told me to cool it. Indigestion, heartburn, you name it. So I started off with an IPA and would finish with something else.
So, what follows a decent craft brew? Well, by way of background, I drink everything beer. Labatt's Blue and Blue Light, Bud and Bud Light, Miller and Miller Light, MGD, you name it. I rarely drink the same beer all night long. In fact, I rarely drink the same beer two in a row.
The reason for my long-winded BS is to make a point. For the last several months all I drink is Rolling Rock. Period. Yeah, it's been around but I didn't really discover it until I was bored with everything else at the local Moose club and thought, what the heck, I'll have a Rock. Next time I went in, started with an IPA, then had a Rock.
Fast forward several weeks, now all I drink is Rock. Forget the all the expensive, craft draft that just makes me feel lousy anyway, give me a Rock! Not watery like a light beer, but doesn't have a "bite" that turns you off after a while. Just an all-around, great balanced beer. Can drink one after another and don't want to try anything else. This is a bloody miracle, let me tell you. All the local bartenders are wondering "What's up with him, he only orders one kind of beer anymore!"
I buy it in the 30 pack here for about $18. Couldn't be happier. It's a relief, actually.
