“Unclear Information on Website - Courier option useless”

I tried to order a Chatsworth bed with a regular sprung mattress and massage function, it was possible to order this combination but I was then phoned to be told it wasn't possible, that wasn't such a big deal though. The delivery options for the bed were "Courier 30 pounds" and "Delivery and Installation 55 pounds (takes 10 to 14 days)". I chose the former as I wanted to get the bed ASAP as my mum was being discharged from a nursing home. There were no time caveats given for the courier option. In the end, however, it took 17 days to deliver the bed, much longer than I wanted or bargained for.
When the bed came, it came with no assembly instructions whatsoever. My brother assembled it to the best of his abilities, but when my mum tried to get into the bed later on it collapsed underneath her. The screws had been bent upon later inspection. This nearly caused a serious accident with my mother. I was also told that the delivers would go through the VAT exemption option...they did not.
It beggars belief that this company even offers a an independent courier option for a product that requires some kind of special installation, and that no assembly instructions were provided. I had assumed that the courier would have at least been connected with the company, but this does not seem to have been the case. My mum signed something, but quite frankly she was infirm and incapable of inspecting the delivery, and whether all the parts were there. We can get a doctor's certificate to confirm that.

This is obviously an ongoing issue and depending on how this company reacts a legal remedy may be sought.
