Massive idiots like all of the banks.

I opened an internet ISA with these clowns at the princly sum of 2.88% (woohoo) and that was quick and easy enough. Sure enough putting money in is all well and lovely too and its given me some interest, however...

When I actually came to close the ISA this week the brown stuff hit the fan. It turned out I couldn't actually close it online like the options say you can, because they have a bug which requires you to do it over the phone. Now bearing in mind I want to purchase a car on Saturday, I ring them up on the Monday to sort it out.

"Sorry to see you go, we'll move it right away to your nominated account"

Two days goes by... Virgin Money is still clinging onto all of my cash. Ring them up again "Oh sorry to see you go, we'll move it right away"

5 days have gone...

I ring up the phone less than impressed asking them what the hell they think they are doing sitting on money that doesn't belong to them and I got faced with Little Miss Frosty who told me that she wouldn't help me unless I adopted a more friendly tone of voice.

I just screamed down the phone at her to give me my money and have now been promised it will be over into my account by two hours time. It all goes so well until you actually want your money.
