I settled a personal loan with Tesco bank seven months ago (December 2011).
I found a great deal on a new personal loan today (09-07-12) which would have kept my current monthly loan payments and loan term exactly the same once my current loans had been consolidated and left me with seven thousand pounds'extra'.
The loan application was declined partly at least because, unbeknown to me, Tesco had never formally changed my loan status with them to 'settled' with Experion.
Lesson learned - Tesco bank service is terrible and always check yourself whether a settled loan is shown as such with the credit rating agencies.
