A serious ill disabled lady was abused by Nationwide. She tried to report no access to her house nothing to do with Nationwide, the woman blocked her account as no access to money. 29.3.2019. She wanted a bank card because her expired. The staff blocked access to information, blocked data access, were rude then made a racist comment. When she complained the kept £8,914.35 closed her account 17.2.2020 during pandemic. They stopped her having any income. It is 2023 Nationwide refused to allowed statements for specific dates the department for disabled people staff were uncooperative , rude and one woman was rude Yet they closed other accounts by fraud for an illegal immigrant with money they claimed as a spouse but not a spouse. At the time the lady was not aware she was a victim of fraud, identity thefts, abuse but Nationwide took part. They stopped her having disability benefits by closing the account as soon as DWP paid money in. Refused to pay money back to DWP.

The nationwide fraud department lady is rude arrogant and totally discriminates against people with mental health illness, I suffer with Bi-Polar and PTSD and she was aware of this but still spoke to me in an awful way stating its my problem I suffer with bi-polar not Nationwide's, SHOCKING TRULY SHOCKING AWFUL WAY TO TREAT CUSTOMERS, but by going on the number of negative reviews and no responses from Nationwide it shows they treat customer, oops sorry member like .... awful Building society.

Opened a current account with them and every branch I went in the staff had a terrible attitude, unfriendly, unhelpful and look down on you. you complain to head office and get totally ignored. My account was closed after just six months that's how bad they are.

Do not risk your money. Nationwide treat customers with absolutely no respect, have no customer complaints department, and pass everything to the ombudsman as it is easier than dealing with it. They incorrectly removed the agreed 5% interest rate from my accounts with no warning - paying only 1% despite sending documents stating the accounts would each earn 5%. I complained by phone, by going into branch, and via their online customer service team (twice). I was told the rate should be 5% but no one corrected it. The online complaints team completely ignored me and did not even send an acknowledgment. I was shocked and appalled by this, so I persisted. It took months of continued complaining for them even to look at the issue, and the people who dealt with it do not deserve their jobs - initially they sent their final offer letter and told me to contact the ombudsman. I persisted as they had not even opened an investigation and found the ridiculously named customer excellence department - could not write an email - did not investigate what had happened - did not review my complaint - treated me in a completely disrespectful way, and - made no apology for their error or handling of the complaint It is amazing they are still in business, but I only knew they had reduced my interest rate when I checked my online account. Others may not check. There are many other banks that treat customers fairly and with respect so I urge you to use them instead.

Phone contact with staff typically very poor. Often feels like you're speaking to a trainee: routinely being put on hold for enquiries and vague information given. Misinformed about a money transfer four weeks ago (resulting in a compensation payment) and today about a credit card switch ( resulting in me cancelling my account) Amateurs!

Guys, this is not Nationwide Building society in the uk, it is an merican bank, you need to search "Nationwide Building society" in the search bar and you will find the correct section to leave your reviews.

Whilst I agree with the other review about the 'upside down' statement showing oldest transactions first, at least their IT is not prone to fail like many others. The online banking is very user friendly and very secure. I have the 'Flexplus' account and pay £10 a month, however, half comes back in interest and the fact that the Annual European Travel Insurance for my wife and myself is covered makes it worthwhile. There are other benefits as well, so worth considering. As a package, if you take their credit card, there are no charges incurred when spending overseas, and you get better exchange rates compared to paying in cash, and you get 0.5% cashback on all UK spending.

Nationwide internet banking and customer service are very poor. For example, the internet banking shows transactions in the upside order, so that the oldest transactions are shown first, and to see the latest transactions you have to scroll down the screen. Also, their customer service people are supposed to welcome feedback, but will not take any complaints about how their internet banking is so poor.

Nationwide Building society completely indifferent to responding to Serious complaints, Ignoring them completely! As a New Customer at Nationwide Building society I anticipated a professional seamless switch-over from old bank to theirs and yet received the complete opposite and utter indifference! I did not care how long it took other than all Direct debit Payments are transferred to this new account and the other old bank account is closed Only when successfully accomplishing that. Seamless isn't that how its supposed to work ??? When a company is demanding payment, one of those companies that were supposedly contacted by Nationwide Building society Just prior to the X Mas Holidays...and because of Nationwide's failure they were never not paid as the switch over was intended to do then one asks oneself why bother putting such important responsibilities in the hands of such a Building society / bank ??? Not at Nationwide building society it Failed leaving me to take off my Holiday to phone around and try and make contact with all those I have standing orders payments to make sure they unlike what I have found have my new details and will get paid. Meanwhile despite personally making several complaints, contacting various persons via email etc in Nationwide Building society including the head a To Chief Executive Nationwide and a promise to respond. Some two weeks later they are completely absent with any such response what so ever! No Professional accountability in Nationwide Building society when things go wrong! Appalling company ! Join at your peril !!!

Don't bother trying to get mortgage with these guys I would walk away, but am tied in to a set rate and so to avoid a massive, redemptionfee we tried to port mortgage over to new house. The first time we applied they took a year to arrange it, this time were holding up the exchange of contracts on our move, YES YOUVE GUESSED IT they are holding it up yet again, so unless you have all the time in the world with constant calls to head office I would give Nationwide a miss,,

I've been a customer of Nationwide Building Society for many years. Had a few minor gripes when money was tight but on the whole they have always been very helpful and approachable. My branch is in Lincoln and it is good that I can still speak to someone in branch if I need to.

This bank are an absolute nightmare and the worst company I have had the misfortune of dealing with. They do not deal in emails (apparently) only faxes! My husband had to make a 50 mile trip to hand over some paperwork which they did nothing with for 2 months! The mortgage consultants are an absolute joke and have no clue what they are doing and are never in the office. Ours went on holiday, then was ill and nobody else could deal with our case. The excuses are so ridiculous that they literally bring you to tears with frustration. I literally find it hard to find the words to describe how universally appalling and awful this company and everybody who works for it is! I run my own business and have had to take time out of work to speak to these idiots on the phone time and time again. My husband and I are stressed all the time as we live in rented accommodation with 3 small children and no garden and who are sharing a bedroom. I mean for God's sake what's wrong with these people, how can they have so little respect or consideration for people's lives. The absolute bunch of idiots I hate the whole company and everything it stands for. I hope this gets across to you reader how much I don't want you to go what we have gone through! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IT WILL BE THE WORST THING YOU EVER DO!

I informed them of my travel dates, then found that my card was useless in Turkey. They now say that my Flexaccount CashCard cannot be used in Turkey, or anywhere abroad. It pretty much ruined a 4 week holiday.
Written on: 22/08/2014
I wasn't advised that my debit visa card would not work in Turkey, when I asked about charges for its use. My holiday was spoiled and I had to go without eating out and excursions. I am very angry because I don't get a holiday every year. If I had known I would have taken more liras/travel card

This bank has helped me and my family own my mothers house and be able to put the sudden death of my mother to a close. The staff at the Ealing branch will go out of their way to help I have the most respect for them as they actually try to get to know their customers. Never pushy they have never tried to "sell" me anything (credit cards/loans) I have moved all mine and my children's accounts to them and I have been really happy with the service provided online, over the phone and in branch.

In the process of moving house i lose my card, search high and low for it and had to order a replacement. in this time i tried to get cash out 3 times in 2 weeks as i'm still waiting on my card. After the 3rd time of giving driving licence etc as id and going through the ins and outs of a ducks behind for proof of who you are for all the bank to hear your not allowed any more cash until your card comes through. but however you can go in branch with a friend and transfer the money to their account to draw out? so their reasoning for not allowing it for fraud protection is obviously rubbish if they want you to transfer to a friends account to draw it out! new bank for us now!

We have a loan, a mortgage, a current account and savings account with Nationwide. Every application was quick and easy to do. We were given the typical APR on the loan and mortgage. The mortgage can be monitored through the online banking system and we can overpay as much as we want, which is great! Anytime we have decided to phone them, it has been quick and easy to get through to a real person, instead of getting stuck in a list of inappropriate menu options (i.e Co-op!!!) Overall, we have had birlliant service from Nationwide.
