“Useless customer service - Can't even open an account”

Went in to the branch at 19:10 to open an account only to be told there is a waiting list we are closing soon. Looked around the branch and there were about 3 of their staff sitting there doing nothing. When i asked about why cant they see me now the guy said they are 'We need to start preparing to close'. Whats the point of being open till 20:00 if stop seeing customers at 19:10. Other banks have opened an account for me in 10 minutes. I received an email ( 17/7/2014) from metro bank as I complained about what had happened -
Thank you for your message, I am sorry to hear about your recent experiences while trying to open an account. I can assure you this is not the customer service we aim to provide at Metro Bank. I have sent a task to our Edgeware store and I have requested for a manager to give you a phone call regarding your visit.

“Declined a card purchase but kept a hold on the funds...”

This Bank I thought was great but now have to say worst Bank I have ever had to try deal with. Put cash in the account on Sunday june 29 went to Oak furniture land to buy items as sale ending that night. Checked my card balance all OK. Then the card was declined. Called Metro bank only to be told the card was declined on the merchants side, but that all was ok on the Banks side so they put a hold on the funds. Have to wait 7 days for the hold to drop off. “Rude and Terribal Customer service ”

went in to the cheep side branch to close the loan account ..none had the knowledge I had to ask them to seek help from there manager he did not had a clue ,called the head office for assistants finally close the account. next day evening the assistant who close my a/c called and told me my a/c is not close. didn’t have no explanation..I called the complains department log a complained ,their promise to get back after investigating ASAP never did it ..so went in to the bank next day met… Read Full Review

“Works flawlessly”

I have been closely watching Metro Bank for some time now. Having become totally disillusioned with HSBC I wanted to get away from the "Big Four". I do all my banking online and very rarely needed to go into a branch. This means that living in Leicestershire I am outside the Metro Bank's current area. “On line banking what a joke ”

The online banking with METRO BANK IS THE WORST I HAVE SEEN it freezes, crashes, does not let you log in, it takes 10 - 15 times to get on to view your account I have had problems with fraudulent activity which they won't pay back even though it was caused by the online system being so faulty you do not know where you are with it. “Totally False Stick To The High Street Banks”

So So False went into the Croydon branch to open an account and very impressed with the false frontage I got met and greeted with plenty of smiles I had both parts of my drivers licence and current bank statements a decent guy I was dealing with (but all sales people are at the point of sale he quickly changed when the computer said whatever)he then tells me I need more id ? ridiculous just to confirm I have recent bank statements and both parts of a drivers licence at the same address. “Worst Website Ever!”

If it wasn't for the free cash withdrawals abroad I would have closed this account the moment I opened it! The website is the worst, slowest, clunkiest site I've ever used. It doesn't render properly on any web browser and the navigation is appalling! Logging in to your account is like war and peace and if you eventually manage to you'll be lost on how to view the simplest of things. Actually 'alliwantisadirectdebit', having been absolutely disgusted by Santander, I joined Metro Bank in their Kingston upon Thames branch, and have been happy ever since.

I am not a member of staff, and you can see my other reviews on restaurants such as the Monkey Puzzle in Chessington, In Darkness by Nick Lake, and interlink express.

“Very happy...”

Right now i am very happy. They seem to try hard and are honest. The credit and debit card are great for travel but it would good if they pay more interest. “Friendly & easy to use & deal with”

Being in my mid 40s & using my bank all the time as I am self employed I can honestly say these guys know how to look after their clients. The manager is helpful as are the staff, it's nice to see young people working hard & actually wanting to get on in life, I have accounts also with RBS & Co op & I am swapping them for Metro bank as RBS in particular are terrible & I would actually say the worst bank I have ever dealt with & what's more annoying is they are only still around due to all us… Read Full Review

“Appalling website, but getting better!”

I opened my account at the Holborn store 2 years ago with a view to transferring all my banking to them from Smile. Being a new bank I decided to do this gradually so I had a chance to gain confidence in them. Firstly the good points:- Instore service (at Holborn) is exemplary. “Great instore, but e-banking is beyond poor :(”

Metro bank sells itself on customer service which is great in-store, but when you have to contact them they honestly struggle with the basics. The staff often lack the basic knowledge I would expect them to have which is rather disappointing. 1.
