“CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ITS WORSE”

SO ANGRY , I cannot even describe. My daughter has 2 accounts with Metrobank, one savings and one current, which was DEFINITELY sold as a current account, but transpires to be a 'cash account'. She opened this as she had a young persons account with Lloyds and wanted a bona fida current account moving forward as an adult. As it is a 'cash account' my 18 year old daughter is in Australia and has no access to money, Metrobank are apparently unable,(UNWILLING ??) to convert to a current account… Read Full Review

“My vulnerable son was able to open a bank account with...”

My vulnerable son was able to open a bank account with the metro bank by just showing a driving licence for ID they then gave him an overdraft for nearly £400 when he did not have a job and had never had a job since banking with them. How is this allowed to happen?… Read Full Review

Metro bank has got the worst customer service I have encountered. They do not care about their customers or take their jobs seriously. Their service is appalling and you can never get your work done in one go. There seems to be no employees available in their branches and the ones who do stand behind the counter are extremely rude. “Shocking service”

I tried to open a cuurent account with this bank. I waited 20 minutes in an empty bank before i saw someone. Then having provided several proof of address, including my current driving license, i was told that i had failed an address check. Huh ? Makes no sense to me. I have a perfect credit rating. “Terrible customer service”

After waiting for 2 hours and providing valid IDs and documents, the agent informed us that I am not eligible for a current account due to my passport and visa status. although I have a valid passport and a work visa that ends in 2020! He offered a cashing account which I accepted. An hour later he came back saying I can't open any accounts! This bank is great until you have a problem then good luck to you. Check all your refunds if you are waiting to receive money in my accounts as I had issues and they were not interested in helping me at all, almost two weeks later I am still waiting for them to resolve the issue, they never called me back as promised. Every time I ring for a balance I get told to hold the line as the first person has no idea how to do his job. If I could of given a corner of 1 star I would of. And the staff either can't understand English or they just hang up on you. The staff are rude and very unprofessional , especially the staff at the Chelmsford branch. Already holding a business account with them ,went in to open another for a new business, had to go in 3 times as every time they were asking for different pieces of information and after 3rd time they came up with yet another thing which is not on their list and member of staff could not articulate what had to be in it. “Shall I close my account?”

I have just wasted 30 mins of my time queuing to pay in a large cheque with no member of staff to help. I saw several other customers walk out in disgust as we were constantly ignored. Reason? Someone decided 2 classes of schoolchildren were more important than regular customers. They were allowed access to safety deposit boxes and totally swamped the bank foyer. “Steer well clear”

I was recently appointed a director of the company which administers the affairs of the block of flats in which I live. I therefore needed to establish on-line access to the company's bank account. I went to the branch to give them the requisite proofs of identity and after queuing for several minutes in order to inform the "greeter" of the nature of my business. Years ago banking was simple. You went in, transacted your business and came out a few minutes later. If you needed to consult someone about a loan or something you could make an appointment to see someone (if they were not immediately available, which they often were) You weren't asked to sit and wait for two hours as you can be with Metro. You always spoke to someone who has been trained, and not some KFC reject sitting at a terminal.
Banking in the 1970's was much easier, and hardly ever a bad experience. Progress? Don't make me laugh!

“Worst Bank”

I joined Metro bank for the "ease and quickness" the process takes and yes it was actual easy and extremely quick. I've never regretted another decision before but this seems to be the worst one possible. They allow companies such as Microsoft office to take money from my card but as soon as they see something as simple as a tesco shop, they block my card, allowing me from using it, deciding that it's in unusual purchase and that there is fraud. Having read these reviews, I think I must have gone to a different bank in Brighton! Myself and my partner went in to open a joint account and after banter, lollipops and 45 minutes, we walked out with debit cards, our online mobile banking set up for us and the app on our phones. Since then we have had nothing other than excellent service. We took some change into their cash change machine and the machine wasn't working. I don't go to a bank for banter and lollipops but to transact business. While you are indulging in witless banter and sucking on a lollipop, you are probably keeping other customers waiting. If this review is genuine, which I doubt, then you are just the type of numptoidal loon who would be a Metro Bank target customer!

Having read poor reviews I thought I would go into the new branch at Bexleyheath Kent anyway to make my own mind up. True to form I walked out disgusted with the rudeness of the member of staff behind the counter. I wanted to invest a large sum of money but due to his argumentative and rude attitude I seem to have joined the ranks of the disgruntled. Still, their loss is another banks gain. Abolutely AWFUL, THIRD WORLD COUNTRY bank!! I had the misfortune of using one of their deposit boxes. The account was under my husband's name, but trying to get a joint account took several (failed) trips, with different requests for ID each time (and no joint account in the end because, for one reason or another, they didn't believe my ID and wanted something that showed we both had the same surname)!! I co run a small Business and made the switch to Metro Bank. Since setting up the account it has been proven the guy that set it up had no idea what he was doing. I was left unable to pay any bills or wages as default limits had been set at £0.00. When I went in branch to sort it out the girl I saw had no clue about logging in and made me change all my log in details, only to discover she was on the wrong sign in screen.
