“Steer well clear”

I was recently appointed a director of the company which administers the affairs of the block of flats in which I live. I therefore needed to establish on-line access to the company's bank account. I went to the branch to give them the requisite proofs of identity and after queuing for several minutes in order to inform the "greeter" of the nature of my business. Years ago banking was simple. You went in, transacted your business and came out a few minutes later. If you needed to consult someone about a loan or something you could make an appointment to see someone (if they were not immediately available, which they often were) You weren't asked to sit and wait for two hours as you can be with Metro. You always spoke to someone who has been trained, and not some KFC reject sitting at a terminal.
Banking in the 1970's was much easier, and hardly ever a bad experience. Progress? Don't make me laugh!

“Worst Bank”

I joined Metro bank for the "ease and quickness" the process takes and yes it was actual easy and extremely quick. I've never regretted another decision before but this seems to be the worst one possible. They allow companies such as Microsoft office to take money from my card but as soon as they see something as simple as a tesco shop, they block my card, allowing me from using it, deciding that it's in unusual purchase and that there is fraud. Having read these reviews, I think I must have gone to a different bank in Brighton! Myself and my partner went in to open a joint account and after banter, lollipops and 45 minutes, we walked out with debit cards, our online mobile banking set up for us and the app on our phones. Since then we have had nothing other than excellent service. We took some change into their cash change machine and the machine wasn't working. I don't go to a bank for banter and lollipops but to transact business. While you are indulging in witless banter and sucking on a lollipop, you are probably keeping other customers waiting. If this review is genuine, which I doubt, then you are just the type of numptoidal loon who would be a Metro Bank target customer!

Having read poor reviews I thought I would go into the new branch at Bexleyheath Kent anyway to make my own mind up. True to form I walked out disgusted with the rudeness of the member of staff behind the counter. I wanted to invest a large sum of money but due to his argumentative and rude attitude I seem to have joined the ranks of the disgruntled. Still, their loss is another banks gain. Abolutely AWFUL, THIRD WORLD COUNTRY bank!! I had the misfortune of using one of their deposit boxes. The account was under my husband's name, but trying to get a joint account took several (failed) trips, with different requests for ID each time (and no joint account in the end because, for one reason or another, they didn't believe my ID and wanted something that showed we both had the same surname)!! I co run a small Business and made the switch to Metro Bank. Since setting up the account it has been proven the guy that set it up had no idea what he was doing. I was left unable to pay any bills or wages as default limits had been set at £0.00. When I went in branch to sort it out the girl I saw had no clue about logging in and made me change all my log in details, only to discover she was on the wrong sign in screen. Joined for their "ease" of use abroud. Card doesn't work at most foreign banks when it does they then block your card. Despite the fact that I have informed them of where I will be and during which dates. It then costs a lot of money in phone bills as they keep you on hold and their customer service is awful. Maybe you are used to going into your bank and getting the lady who smells of B.O and fags, wears big hoop earrings and has five kids with three different fathers, grunting at you as her alpha-commonner acknowledgement. I, however, prefer to be welcomed with a smile and politely offered something to drink.

My review looks about as suspect as the area your name describes.

We were told by their 'fraud department' that a vulnerable adult who flagged phantom cash withdrawals is never entitled to a refund because of his disability (requiring help with Banking). We were told that it is impossible for them to judge how much of the stolen money may have benefitted the account holder (100% I'd say...) and that in this case it is okay to steal from a vulnerable adult, as it's only their word. Ive been a customer with metrobank for 5years+ and i can say the bad feedback is highly exaggerated, their contact centres are open 24/7 thoughout the year even on xmas day and answer within seconds. Their stores are open 7 days a week, week days till 8pm.
