“Useless - Amateurs”

V bad experience so far. And I agree with all the other reviews. These guys were meant to be a challenger bank but I would say they are worse than the more traditional banks. Incredibly slow. Zero contact (after multiple attempts and no call back after leaving messages). They haven't even asked to set up a DD for my mortgage (which they finally completed on nearly 3 months after I first applied!). “Metro Bank - Account Opening Procedures”

Wanted to open a joint account with my partner and decided to go with Metro because of their opening hours (both full time workers) and their savings interest rates. The representative talked about anything and everything else, apart from what we require and how the process of account opening works. “The worst I have seen”

The worst business banking experience I have had. Mistake after mistake, non-existent staff training, no-one lives up to their promises. “MetroBank - Shockingly bad customer service”

Metrobank has been doing a hefty sales push in our area (Petts Wood, Bickley, Bromley etc.) visiting local schools and Brownie packs trying to encourage children to open accounts with them and ostensibly teaching them about money management. Sounds great doesn't it? We thought so too. “Unilateral Closure of my account.”

I made the mistake of waltzing into Metrobank & opening a personal account. All seemed to go well for the first few months. As a high Earner making over £500k per annum some quite large amounts of money come into my account, & on a similar vein I live large & like to spend it. So basically metro bank closed my account because I had money paid in from my aunt oversea constantly because I was managing a project for her. I had over 5grand in the account when they closed It. Now they ask me to wait for a letter from them telling me why I can't access my account. Called them lots of times but still didn't hear nothing al they say is to wait for the letter. What I'm worried about is how I'm gonna get my money back.

“Fixed rate bond”

I have just spent 2 hours over the last few days attempting to open a fixed rate bond. Despite several lengthy phone calls I am unable to fund the account because of the ridiculous hurdles they keep putting up. I opened an account online ( fixed savings ) all OK then I tried to open one for my wife, failed online so phoned the number given and they said the only way to open an account is to come in ( London 400 miles away ) so that was that. “Forget the hype - an amateur outfit staffed by muppets”

Tried to open a business bank account in Milton Keynes. Was told to come in over the weekend, so brought the forms in. After waiting 25 minutes to see a rude young lady, we were told the process would take a further TWO HOURS. She really didn't give a damn about the customer, offered no solution and was suggesting we go elsewhere. I have never seen such dreadful service from a bank. The manager didn't care either. “Worst Internet Banking Ever”

I live in harrow and had the misfortune to visit Metro Bank in St Annes to open a new business account, after waiting 30 minutes to get seen i was seen by a representative that did not have a clue about the process, her excuse being she was new, this is not the type of service normally associated with a main stream bank. Within a minute of being seen, however, the man told us that they weren't going to give us an account 'just to draw money out'. Thank you for your post. I now have the answer to why i did not get accepted for a savings account. I wish i had read these reviews before i approached them, so I would not have wasted £14.95 to get access to my credit report, which turned out to be excellent.

I have written a complaint letter, but having read the reviews, I doubt i will be getting a response.
But i also think, we had a lucky escape not being accepted!

“Rip off”

I was a long time customer with this bank. They changed the minimum balances on accounts. I wound up paying service fees on my accounts. When I addressed this with a customer service representative, she said that I signed a form agreeing to the change. I told her that I did not and told her to look for a signature. I opened a bank account 2 months ago, and her account has just been blocked without any reason. Never went overdraft, never had any debits of any kind, what i just did was depositing money and making transactions. I now can't have access to my own money, they are ignoring or redirecting my calls without giving me an explanation and asking me to wait for the unknown. Did you finally get your money ? I transferred funds from an international to my metro deposit account for a deposit for a flat and I was asked to show proof of purchase which I have showed but am still waiting to hear from head office and I have 10 more days to complete or my deposit will go .

I had some money sent to my account from a friend in France, £5k, for repairs to his home in England. The following morning I filled my car up and when I went to pay my card was declined. Called metro bank and was told they had frozen my account, without any notification, because they think im laundering money.
