Have been a customers of the Cooperative Bank for 20 years. Today went to use my card in a shop it was declined. Had checked my balance the day before via my online banking so was some what surprised. Came home and checked my account. The coop and withdrawn my overdraft facility. I was told that I had been told this via a letter sent out 10 days previously. This I had not received. I pointed out that as I had an online account why didn't they message me on my account to tell me that the overdraft needed to be renegotiated and anyway if I had been away I wouldn't have known anything about it and would have had my card declined somewhere far away from home. Totally unhelpful youth who was rude, arrogant and said that it made no difference how long I had been with the bank I should make a note on the calendar a year from now when my overdraft limit was up for renewal. I then insisted I spoke to a Manager. He sneeringly said that I could but they would say the same. Spoke to line manager who was more sympathetic and reinstated overdraft I was told there and then. I said can I now go back and get my shopping and use my declined card, she said yes. And guess what? It was declined again. Useless, I will be looking for another bank and am reporting them to the Bank Ombudsman for lack of duty of care.
