Had an overdraft facility on standard current account that I used occasionally. They had no problem offering this facility to me for years and years.
One day they took it away out of the blue with no warning, consultation, discussion or consideration. When I questioned it, they said I didn't need it. As it happens, I was about to need it, so I asked them to put it back. So they subjected me to an extensive "application" process and then refused to put it back in place so that I had to borrow money at no notice from someone else. Told them my circumstances hadn't changed. Told them when and how much money was coming in and how money expected was delayed, hence the need. Told them I couldn't afford to go to work because of this. Reminded them I had been a loyal and well-behaved customer for 15 years. Might as well have been talking to a brick wall.
Today I found I needed it again so again asked them to put the previous limit back in place. Same conversation, complete with rudeness, intransigence, refusal to listen and talking over me.
Reason for taking the facility away was given as "you weren't using it". When pointed out that I was using it and needed to use it they wouldn't budge, so there is clearly some other reason for taking away promised credit suddenly and refusing to put it back, and they would rather lie to me than tell me what it is.
Their charges for credit are high and are obfuscated to make them look like bank charges so that they don't have to state an APR. I was happy to pay a bit more for the credit because I thought it was reliable and flexible. Bzzzt! Wrong. Business now taken to their competitors.
